Wiggins doesn't look like a star to me

Lol is he a star now? Put up 31 on Jimmy Butler and led his team to victory.

Smart has had a couple of big games, so has Sully, so has Olynyk. So has Perry Jones.

One 30+ point game doesn't equate to "future superstar".  Guys like Harden, Westbrook. Durant, Lebron and Curry are putting up 30+ point games every other game.

Tyreke Evan had a far more impressive rookie year than Wiggins did, but he never became a star. 

Time will tell, but he still has a LONG way to go.

I understand that folks want to see this kid become a superstar.  He was more heavily hyped since Lebron James than anyone else coming out of high school.

To be honest, in the admittedly limited amount of time I've seen him play, he hasn't looked like a future superstar to me.
Yes, he's insanely athletic, but, this is the NBA; who isn't insanely athletic?  He's got a smooth jumper, he can score easily on mid-range post-ups, but so far I haven't seen anywhere near the handle, the ball control, the slickness and creativity with the ball in his hands to make me think he'll be a super star in the NBA.

Obviously he's got a long way to go, and he could end up proving me wrong.

There's insanely athletic, and then there's another level of 'game changing' athleticism like Westbrook or Gerald Green. Gerald Green never had the finishing skill or awareness that Russell Westbrook has-but Andrew Wiggins just might. He's definitely got a better understanding of the game than most kids his age. He is 20 years old. He's still gonna be in that 'game changing' athletic tier when he's 25, unless he gets injured (Derrick Rose is no longer in this category after his injury, although he shows glimpses). He'll just have 5 years of NBA experience, weight rooms, and thousands more repetitions of jumpshots, ball handling drills, and coaching.
He could definitely be a superstar and at 20 years old I think he's on the right track.

And guys like James Harden, Paul George, and Jimmy Butler didn't have impressive rookie seasons, but still ended up being superstars. Wiggins had a much better rookie season than they did. Also, Marcus Smart's career high is 25.

And I never said just because he had one good day it means he will be a superstar (I think he will be a superstar for other reasons), it is just ironic that he scores 31 on one of the league's best defenders and beats a high quality team the same day this question was raised.

And the Cavs made an epic mistake trading him.

No they didn't.  Kevin Love is a monster, in his prime, and re-signed for 5 years.  The only way the Cavs would have made a mistake is if Love had left in free agency.  The Cavs are in win now mode, Love better fits that model and is still young enough they could get close to a decade (as opposed to 15 years) of top play from him.

Solid points.  To reach superstar status, he'll have to develop his handles and his vision by a lot.  To his credit, he seems like a hard worker and a hungry player.

Agreed. I respect the Cavs for going all-in during Lebron's prime. Plus, there's no guarantee Lebron would have signed without the pending trade for Love.

Smart was compared to the likes of Marcus Banks and a poor mans Tony Allen and was said that he was never going to improve his offense on this site.

Gotta disagree with you there. If he was on the Celtics, Celticsblog would be saying he isn't even a top 300 NBA player and that we should trade him for a protected second rounder while we still can.
