I just watched the Wolves beat the Bulls in OT.  Wiggins had 31 and looked pretty good to me.

Hasn't he been dealing with back spasms to start the season? I remember hearing that.

Also, let's not forget Flip Saunders just passed away. I expect some of the younger guys to be up and down this season as a result.

He showed flashes, but I was a bit disappointed to be honest. He was pretty bad in the second half. Regardless, I think the future is bright for the Wolves. Towns looked amazing and I still think Wiggins is going to be excellent eventually.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

He'll be a star

Is there a player drafted in the top 5 that you don't think will be a star?  Because most of them are not.
Wiggins will be a star.  This thread was premature and foolish.

It seems most think Jabari Parker will be a star.  He looked good towards the end of last year.  Maybe he caps out as a really solid Rudy Gay type or rich man's Jeff green who never makes an allstar team, but that kid has lots of skill.

Embiid's career might be over. So who knows.

Anyone watching Aaron Gordon?  He was complete dominant in summer league, missed preseason, and has been amazing in the minutes he's played this season.  Scott skiles is being weird with his minutes, but Gordon's floor looks like kirilenko production at this point.

Hard to bet on exum becoming a star. He's the only player in history to make the leap directly from a foreign high school to the pros.  He played his way into the starting lineup as a rookie because his defense was arguably the best out of any rookie (even compared to Noel and smart).  Offensively he was inefficient and passive.  He should make a full recovery but the injury sets him back.   I think he has a future.

Smart is probably not going to be a star.  He'll be good.

Randle is probably not going to be a star.  He'll be good.

Stauskas is probably not going to be a star.  He'll be good.

There... I did the top 8.

Didn't he tear his ACL last December? Edit: Sorry just realized you may have meant literally year as in 2014. I thought you meant as in last season.

I was thinking of starting a thread about what it would take to trade for Gordon since he is barely in Orlando's rotation. Ainge was previously really high on him and with Evan Fournier receiving upwards of 40 MPG, Harris signed long term, and Hezonja looking pretty strong, Orlando will have a decision to make.

The thread is premature and foolish by judging one guy... so you did the "top 8" guys.  Seems more than 8 times as foolish since Wiggins played in most of the games and the rest did not.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
The Bulls announcers were geunuinely taken aback by some of the moves he was making.
Did anyone see the reverse spin and double handed jam on Taj Gibson?

The announcers made the comment ' we haven't seen anything like this kid for a while, Jim' in a serious, almost shocked voice.

The kid is 20 years old. Slightly older than James Young. He's looking like an All Star at the very minimum to me.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I would argue that assuming Wiggins Will be a star is 'premature and foolish'.

It's certainly possible, but by no means a certainty.  He doesn't have the look of a transcendent player.  He's not Lebron James / Carmelo Anthony like dominant.

I don't think he has anywhere near a complete enough game at this point in time to make that assumption.  His pretty meh passing, defense and rebounding limit him IMHO.

Maybe he improves at those over time, in which case sure. If not, then I don't like the chances.

Wiggins is the real deal.

And the Cavs made an epic mistake trading him.

I understand that folks want to see this kid become a superstar.  He was more heavily hyped since Lebron James than anyone else coming out of high school.

To be honest, in the admittedly limited amount of time I've seen him play, he hasn't looked like a future superstar to me.
Yes, he's insanely athletic, but, this is the NBA; who isn't insanely athletic?  He's got a smooth jumper, he can score easily on mid-range post-ups, but so far I haven't seen anywhere near the handle, the ball control, the slickness and creativity with the ball in his hands to make me think he'll be a super star in the NBA.

Obviously he's got a long way to go, and he could end up proving me wrong.

I've been lurking this forum before signing up. I have no dog in the hunt for this topic, but aren't you the guy who said Embiid would be okay and the Nets would win 35-40 games? You are calling this thread premature and foolish? I think the idea of Embiid coming back this year and that the Nets can win a decent amount of games some of the worst time wasting ideas I've ever come across.

This is nothing personal and I wish you the best. But do you have any other ideas that are foolish? Not you of course. As in I am sure you aren't calling the person who started this "foolish thread" foolish.
