13.8 ppg, 4 rpg, 6.95 per, and shooting 29% fg's, 11% 3pt fg's so far this year .

I said it last year that I wasn't really impressed by him and thought he was kind of soft and passive . People on here insisted he is going to be a star, but i'm just not seeing it . His ceiling to me at this point is Demar Derozen .

Why is he struggling so much?

Its still early but it is certainly something to watch out for. He has stinking up the joint so far. He also played in the International summer tournament so its not like he has an excuse of being out of shape

I went to the SBnation Timberwolves board and even they are started to get underwhelmed. Esp given he has a much better team now than he did last yr. Of course he plays in Minny so no one in the mainstream media cares. Ppl have been more interested in championing how the trade was a loss for Cavs when they get to see he put up numbers while losing by double digits

Makes me further believe that moving to Minny was absolutely critical for his career because if he was still with the Cavs not only would his skill set be redundant, the spotlight would be on his game 24/7. Ppl would be picking him apart at every opportunity and so far am not sure he has the mental makeup to handle that.

Should def re-evaluate in the coming months but the early reports dont look good

Wouldn't he be getting way better looks with the Cavs? If Lebron James can make boobie Gibson like a starting calibar nba player, and mo williams an all-star, I have to imagine Wiggins would look mighty good playing next to him. I would be more interested in how he has looked on defense, because the scouting report was that he was most advanced in that part of the game.

I think the reports on who won the trade were centered around it being a disaster if Love left for nothing. Since that didn't happen, it certainly is not a disaster for the Cavs.

It's just a slump and that happens to even the best of players.

Anthony Davis has struggled early on too for someone who was expected to be an MVP candidate. Lebron struggled a good chunk of last season. 5 games is not indicative of anything. Wait until the all-star break and we'll see if it's something to worry about.

I think Wiggins will be fine it'll just be a matter of Minnesota having to work out the growing pains of their very young and talented roster.

Meh.  Four games in, a shooting slump.

He's not going to continue to score at a miserable .399 TS% all year.

He scored at a solid-for-a-rookie .517 TS%, including an excellent .533 after the all-star break.

Let's take a look again in 3-4 weeks.

I have KAT in a dynasty league so I've watched most of every T-Wolves game this season.

Wiggins' numbers aren't great but early-season results are fluky, so they don't mean much.  But what I do see is very bad body language from him - he seems disengaged and at times sullen even when he's playing fairly well.  I think that's why he's catching so much negative attention so early in the year.

Demar Derozan does seem like a reasonable comp for him, but I think his defensive potential is a lot higher than that.  Derozan's offense with better outside shooting and elite defense would make Wiggins a star.

I agree with others, it's an early season slump.  That Wolves team, like many young teams, is a mess of guys trying to figure out their place in the league, so it's not super surprising that a guy like Wiggins, who doesn't always have the ball in his hands -- might struggle.  Especially with Karl Towns playing really well early.

One of the biggest knocks on Wiggins has always been that mentally he's a little bit too much like Jeff Green -- prone to disengaging and drifting.

I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were a Wolves fan, though I think I'd pay close attention to what the veterans on the team i.e. Andre Miller, Tayshaun Prince, and Kevin Garnett were saying about Wiggins.  Those guys know what it takes to be very good / great in this league.

His ceiling is so high . It's hard to tell this early .  He is in a decent environment right now to learn.
Way out in Minny out of trouble of LA or NY , under KG s watchful eye....who will bark at him in an instant.

Jeff Green at min. ......I think of Green because he is quiet and gifted tall man.  I agree Derozen is a likey outcome.

I d trade anybody we got for him still.

It's not a slump. The kid is just too nice. I never saw the fire even from college. World class talent and physical tools

Just lacks the "it"

Could end up becoming the next Jeff green

Uh it is because those aren't the numbers he put up last season. That's what a slump is. It's when a player doesn't perform as well as he could be because of what his numbers have been in the past. Plenty of great players went through slumps. Again no need to judge after 5 whole games. I think he'll be fine. Especially with KG playing next to him. As disappointing as Jeff Green was, he played some of his best basketball when paired up with KG.

Remember, it's his second year, and things can change. Plenty of people thought Lebron didn't have "it" when the Celtics kept beating him and he crumbled in the finals against the Mavs in 2011. Look at him now. He's still the most feared player in the NBA by opposing teams (Though Curry is right behind him), and college doesn't show a thing.

Also weren't you the one who claimed PJIII was part of the future for the Celtics because of the "tools" that he had even though his biggest flaw was his motor? Why the sudden change of heart for Wiggins, who has proven a lot more than Jones ever did? Because he's not a Celtic?

I don't think that would work in the ESPN trade machine, too much salary going out! ;D

He's playing injured and started last season slow as well.

You´re right, Andrew Wiggins shooting 29.3% is a direct result of his personality, which you know very well, and is in no way a statistical anomaly.

Wiggins is scoring only 3 ppg less than last year on only .6 more field goal attempts per-game while shooting about 14% worse. In addition, he is getting to the FT line for over 6 attempts per-game, something Jeff Green has never come close to.

I've always thought Green was a good comp for him - both physically and mentally. Green went #5 And Wiggins very easily could have gone #3 if Embiid had been healthy and Bucks still wanted Parker (it was always a toss-up between the two).

Wiggins definitely still has the potential to be great, but a lot of the hype about him came after his high school years, not college. If he ends up like Green, it wouldn't be a colossal bust either - Green is a very good player, just not a star.
