IT's comments after loss to Pacers

I know it's early but I'm glad someone is stepping up to challenge his teammates. Not the start any of us expected but the C's have to pick it up before it's too late.

IT is the only one holding his own or playing to his potential on the court. Maybe speaking up and saying something will help the guys in the locker room think a little more about how they are playing so far. He's probably the only one that could say it at this point and mean something.

Celtics were on cruise control to start the game...finally played with some grit in the 2nd half....same thing the previous game--Smart had to start Hustling and playing hard...Seems the team has no sense of urgency to start games....maybe some Red Bull---??

One of the players on a team I used to coach would drink red bull before games. He was our best shooter, but the red bulls would cause him to throw 90 mph bricks off the backboard and turn his hands into stone until it wore off.

They spent their preseason batting it around with a bunch of cupcakes and forgot what real games are like.

They'll get back up to speed. They just needed a refresher.

couldn't agree more.  IT is pretty much issuing a challenge to his teammates.  you can only ask your 'great depth' to dig you out of an early hole so many times before someone in the starting lineup has to man-up and become a scorer.

When you dribble into a double team with 20 seconds left in the game looking like you don't know where you are going. You then have to throw it to the top of the court like a lost sheep. You can only blame yourself for the loss not your team. Man up IT.

I don't want IT gone, I kinda really like watching him and Bradley make shots.

I also remember, way back when, Bird made some comments in the playoffs against the Lakers, the Celts were getting pushed around and basically something had to be done and Bird wasn't shy with what he was trying to say and what he meant.

This current team, is far far far away from any caliber team those past glory Celtic teams were so I am not comparing those teams' talents....just the kinda similar situations.

Normally, it is either the best player on the team, the player that cares the most about the team.....these are the kinds of players that either says some things out loud or these are the kinds of players that does something on the court to light a fire under the team.

And generally, these are the kinds of players that are fit towards the mold to be leaders.

The criticisms of Stevens rightfully faded after the team finished so strong in the regular season.

BUT...when the team was playing bad, his "everybody plays" rotation and an inability/unwillingness to crack the whip with poor performing players were common complaints.

At first reading this post all I could do is smile and think of bird calling out the entire team (poor rambis)
Love it.  Certain players need to step up but also shots just need to fall.  With TEN sixth men on team we have to be a well oiled machine to make this work.  Both players and coaching staff.  Indy team wise can have off game but they have a Paul George caliber player who can put them on his shoulders.  Isiah then David Lee then Avery Bradley are our closest caliber players to Paul George

And it's quite possible that he views the NBA season as a very long experiment, one in which the team you finish with is not the team you necessarily start with, and thus has no problem 'sacrificing' a few games to test some players and rotations.

While I was upset they didn't beat the Pacers (I think the C's are a better team), they battled back again after crap offense early and had a chance in the 4th.  This is a COMPLETELY different start than last year when they had massive 1st and 2nd quarter leads, only to blow those down the stretch.

In every game thus far, they have finished hard.  I like that.  It's the best thing we can say about them and it is a carry over for the 2nd half of last year.

Can't really blame him when he's the only guy who's looked halfway competent on the offensive end every game so far... it must be frustrating to have to singlehandedly keep your team in every game...

AB is starting to pick it up though which is nice and I have high hopes for Smart offensively. Once Stevens shores up the rotations I think guys will play better. Sully was looking better, even Lee off the bench.  KO honestly needs to get it together he's been awful. Sadly though unless Smart takes a real leap forward on offense and Sully finds his groove from a few years ago this team will always be below average offensively and IT may have to get used to 30 a night for a chance to win against a team with a pulse...

Agreed. No problems with his comments.  When he got here last year they started winning.  He wants to keep that culture and not let it slide.

I am ok with the roster now but i think you sooner than later needs to play your rookies
AB to the bench and Roz to start with smart
Mickey backing up Amir if Lee's not performing well
and give Hunter regular mins as 2nd unit ala turner
I mean what;s the point of drafting players if you don't let them play
(it's not like other players are good/hot and you are win-now mode)
