hard to say...I haven't see Rozier play in the regular season yet and wish to see that first...for now, I have to say Smart...leadership alone makes me vote for Smart

True. I would have to take Rozier. He just an alpha dog mentality. Can score in a variety of ways and has confidence doing it. Smart not so much.

In college he was able to bulldoze his points in.  Not so much in the nba

Is this a serious question?

Four Terry Rozier's weren't enough to trade up for Winslow.

Marcus Smart is easily the best asset we have on this team.   So I guess if you're asking, "who would you trade", I can see the logic in keeping Rozier since his trade value is almost nothing and Smart could be one of several key assets sent for an all-star.  Rozier looked competent in the pre-season minutes I watched.

This is kind of a set up question, but I will play.

Based on value, I may have to with keeping Rozier and trading Smart. We would likely be able to land a pretty big fish with Smart as the lead guy in a trade package. I really like Smart's leadership and think he brings a lot of intangibles to the game, but Rozier has a similar tenacity and what appears to be a better offensive skill set. If we could trade Smart for a Noel level player,  that would be a lot more beneficial than trading Rozier for a back-up big.

So the choice is between:

A) a player who earned a starting role in his rookie season and has proven himself to be AT THE VERY LEAST a high-end role player with elite defense;

OR

B) a player who had a few good preseason games but has played exactly 0 minutes in the NBA, has not got off of our bench in the last two games, and was chosen 12 spots in the draft later than player A.

Come on, now. This is just ridiculousness to ask this question right now.

It's funny how one game changes a large portion of the tone on this forum lol

The argument isn't really who is better (at the moment, that's obvious); it is more about the kind of value either could bring back in a trade and whether you would be willing to trade Smart in the right deal. Rozier may end up a dud, but we certainly aren't getting a stud for him, while Smart could bring in an all-star level player.

Smart can definitely be an alpha but he's also a very intelligent player and knows his game is not there yet. When he figures his game out on offense, he will have the personality to take the game over. That's one thing I don't really question about Smart.

As usual, the question is incomplete.  Do you mean keep one and cut the other one?  If so, this would be about who we think is better in the long run.

Or do you mean keep one and trade the other one?  This is essentially a non question in theory, the value remains the same.  That is, you trade the one with more value and you get more value in return (and vise versa).

The reason the second scenario is seen as a real question by posters is because they have the mentality to only want to trade players they don't like.  They never want to trade players they do like.  So these folks look at the second case the same way they look at the first one.  They'd only consider trading the player they like less.

Smart still has a lot of room to develop, yet, and Rozier is mostly an unknown.

There's no need to choose betweenthe two, but if we had to go on what we know now, keeping Smart is the obvious choice.

This is a joke. The answer is Smart. Rozier hasn't played a single meaningful minute in the NBA.
1957, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1974, 1976, 1981, 1984, 1986, 2008, 2024

Yes on this regard. Smart is a big trade chip you can use to grab abcs or d bigger talent player.

Smart is a hardworking, intelligent guy. Just lacks the skills on the offensive end. He has avg quickness going to the basket.  When he tries he is usually met by 2 defenders and smothered.  Has a broken jump shot.   He can't get you a string of 6-8 points when you need it.

Smart is a very good complementary piece for a team.  Like a super role player like Tony Allen

Rozier is like a cross between AB defensively and IT offensively.  Has a higher potential. We will see what he can do when he gets some min. Optimistic he will play well
