All in all though, we had a cold shooting night and Toronto made some really tough buckets. There's some things that need fixing, especially finding some offense from the 1st unit, but we shouldn't over react much. Still looks like a 45-47 win team to me. We gotta start highlighting someone a little on offense with the 1st unit. Run a few plays for Smart or Crowder and try to get them rolling off the jump. And please god screw Turner to the bench if he's that off. I woulda liked to see Rozier or Hunter trying out there instead of ET when he's as bad as last night.

Right on brother!
Hunter Rozier zero minutes makes me laugh...
Rozier should be starting at the point with Smart playing the 2..

Bradley Turner and Thomas should be able to land u a legit Defensive C..

I want to add we should have AJ and Zeller starting. Then bring in who ever is needed off the bench. Sully for rebounds. KO for spacing. Lee  for pick and roll.  It's really simple. Don't get why BS is going with Lee and Zeller. And for the love of basketball don't anyone say IT AND AJ pairing off the bench, fix the darn starting lineup.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Amir Johnson shouldn't be playing more than 20-25 minutes a game.
His ankles can't handle it and it's been a real killer for his career over the last few seasons.

I think Amir should play 5-6 minutes a quarter during the regular season and bump that up to 7-8 mins during the playoffs.

Our biggest problem for me at the moment is our lack of scoring in the starting unit.
It's David Lee with 3 defenders and Tyler Zeller the garbage/running man.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Loss to Raptors was like a body slam.

I don't get not starting Amir - same for IT. Jordan Mickey should get minutes when game counts, not garbage time.

I would start this lineup -

Isaiah Thomas (PG)
Avery Bradley (SG)
Jae Crowder (SF)
Amir Johnson (PF)
Jared Sullinger (C)

We lost to a very talented team .....that's reasonable

It's the way the game was played passive by some players and the poor coaching that bothers me

Winning the bench war every night isn't going to consistently win us games. Amir needs to start and finish games. That seems apparent to every one. He doesn't need to play 30 mins/night, but we need our best 5 matched up against opponents' best 5 to win games. Relatedly...

IT needs to start and finish games. It's easy to argue he's the prototypical 6th man, but for the Cs, right now, it's easier to argue he's probably our best player and he definitely provides our biggest need -- go-to scoring. He's filling it up right now... I argued for this before preseason ... he needs to start next to Smart, Crowder, Lee/Sully, and Amir. It's going to quickly become annoying to many of you to see IT dropping 25 seemingly every night and us losing because we can't score.

We need to cut the fat. I'm a huge UNC fan, and even I think Zeller needs to sit. With his production and the minutes/gm he's playing, starting him is a joke -- perhaps a charade as has been pointed out here (same with Lee, though less likely) -- that's gotta end sooner than later. And rotations need to be effectively solidified. It's obviously a challenge that takes some time, but it can't take too much time -- we shouldn't be losing too many games because of it.

Most importantly, BKN needs to be bad. Really bad. A top 5 pick could fill the void at SF and net us a big-time scorer. Anything outside of 5 would be largely disappointing, given primary needs. We've put together a nice squad -- 2 nice bench mobs -- but need that big-time talent that's not likely coming from FA. This year is our best chance to snag it. Pray that BKN is horrible. That's our only hope at making a leap in the near future.

I agree.  Can't believe so many posters here are unaware (or think it's irrelevant) that Amir's ankle problems are very real and that he shouldn't be playing more than 20 minutes a game.  Maybe he should be playing even less?

Popovich has been limiting Duncan's court time for years...even keeping him out games for stretches so he'll be healthy enough for the playoffs.  Stevens would be wise to do the same, e.g., when the C's play back-back games keep him out of one of them or limit his exposure during overtime contests.  Perhaps, he should do the same with David Lee.

Your comment about the starting unit has me thinking that there may be an outside chance Rozier could have a shot at being a closer or starter by season's end.  Not that he's that talented, rather he brings a lot of energy to the team.

Keyon Dooling had that effect a few years back.  He was a high energy guy with less talent the Ray Allen.  Yet, so many times the second unit (with him on it) would lead comeback efforts.  Never quite understood why Doc seldom let him close out games when it was quite obvious he was a major catalyst for the second unit outplaying the first.

Ok. Here come my overreactions after two games.

That thing about Zeller and Marcus Smart being so much better now....yeah I don't know.

That thing about Amir Johnson being sneaky good.....I'm not so sure about that either.

That thing about D Lee having a major bounce back year....still waiting.

Avery hitting tons of three? Yet to be seen

This year the offense seems to limit the amount touches Avery gets.... maybe I'm off base here?

Marcus Smart hasn't shown his signature defense yet. That concerns me.

KO and Sully don't seem lots better yet.

James Young seems to have regressed if that's even possible.

RJ Hunter has gotten almost no time at all.

Glad your not the coach, our bench is our strong point and CBS, uses it to wear down teams, you would take that away?
