Scenario:  Mid-week game in January against a team like Miami or Chicago who is playing the second game of a back-to-back.  Their veteran rosters are filled with guys like Bosh/Wade/Deng or Rose/Gasol who want to coast through three quarters to conserve their energy for the long season and playoffs.  The Cs open up a modest 6 or 8 point lead in the third quarter, and boom, Stevens subs in this unit:

Smart / Rozier / Bradley / Crowder / Amir   :o

The Celtics start defending their behinds off, pressuring the ball, getting deflections, blocking shots, and generally annoying the @#$% out of the other team.  The eight point lead suddenly becomes 18, as Crowder and Bradley rain threes, and Smart and Rozier penetrate the paint and run pick and rolls with Amir.  The vets on the other side get frustrated and annoyed and their team mails in the rest game as being not worth the effort.

You gotta admit that would be a mean five-man defensive unit.

idk, 2 problems I see are AB can't really guard 3s and Rozier is unproven and rookies usually don't get calls. Take out Rozier and put in about any big and you probably have a better D lineup.

I'd take out Rozier, move Crowder to the 3, and Jerebko to the 4.

I think any lineup with Smart, Bradley, Crowder and Amir will be really good defensively. Eventually I think Amir will be moved into the starting lineup. Coincidentally i think most games will be closed out by those 4 and Thomas.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Was looking for an old thread to throw some humble pie at someone, but instead bump this from FrDrake.. with notable contribution from triboy

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I know it sounds lame, but I would probably replace Rozier with Olynyk. KO has exceptional positioning on his defense and rotations. He obviously isn't as tenacious as the other four, but he would be a great 'big' to have out there with Amir as he is always active and his length is better than that of another guard.

Yes. Harden couldn't do anything
