With their main guys (read: "actual NBA players") on the floor, the Sixers had some possessions that actually looked good.

Okafor will get 20-30 touches out of the post every single game for this team.  He's going to get the chance to put up numbers and keep them competitive.

I think Noel's shooting and post game will have to improve A LOT for he and Jahlil to work well together long term, but for now it's a fascinating experiment.

Noel a future star? Seriously?  He is pathetic with the ball. He can block shots. Good for him.
If Embiid is able to come back from injury (a big if), Noel will be traded fast, for a future first round pick, in all liklihood. I hope not to the Celtics. He is not very good.

Noel was basically the best rookie defender since David Robinson. He does a heck of a lot more than block shots.

You better hope that you're wrong about his value, because when he was on the court yesterday our offense was terrible and the worst team in the NBA was playing us to a draw.

It doesn't seem like Noel and Okafor shared the floor a lot yesterday.  Does anybody have the exact number for how many minutes they were out there together?

Hm, guess it was just the parts of the game I happened to actually pay attention to.  :P

Got a offensive rating / defensive rating for those minutes?

All I got is the old fashioned plus minus
9.29.  + 9
2.06.   - 4
2.37.   +1
3.22.   +3
10.02.  -5

So they were + 4 overall on the court together.

Which wasn't helped by their perimeter guys getting absolutely abused by the Celtics guards.

Yep and they were missing Wroten, Stauskas, and Covington at least two of which will start if not all three.

Indeed.

I think Canaan and Thompson are fine NBA players.  They can help Philly win . . . as long as they're playing 15-20 minutes off the bench.

I'd like to see Philly trade for Dennis Schroder.  I think Schroder could be a starter in this league if he's given the chance to grow into the role.  Philly could send a handful of role players and a pick of some description to Atlanta.

Seeing Philly try to develop two big men without any quality guards to run the pick and roll is . . . frustrating, to say the least.

Thompson would actually fit quite well in Atlanta in the Korver roll off the bench (though Atlanta did add Hardaway for that).  He has that sort of shooting stroke.  Thompson, Grant or Sampson, and the OKC 1st for Schroeder actually makes a fair amount of sense for both those teams.

Schroeder is really starting to look like a future star. None of the guys mentioned have that kind of upside and represent bench players at best on Atlanta's current roster. Why in the world would Atlanta make that trade?

I dunno about that trade specifically, but Atlanta already has a young point guard -- not sure he's a "star," but he's very good -- and he should be playing 32+ minutes a night.

They have holes elsewhere on their roster, particularly on the wing.  Their backup big situation is tenuous with Muscala and the oft-injured Splitter, too.

So I think it could make some sense for them to trade Schroder and cash him in for a pick or two and some role players that can help them elsewhere.

Maybe Covington, Thompson, Landry, and a pick.

I think it would make more sense for them to shop Teague and keep Schroder as their point guard of the future.

Jeff Teague is only under contract for next year, I would think they would be a lot more likely to trade him than Schroeder. Schroeder is also on an outstanding contract for the next 2 seasons after this and is an RFA after that. I think they could do much better than a couple of role players and a late first for either one of them for a 22 year old point guard with a good contract that looks like a future star.
