I hated the Rozier pick at the time, but I've grown to really like it since watching his highlights, summer league, and pre-season. However, I will withhold on how I feel until I see all three play against legit NBA competition because we still have yet to see that.

Overall I like the young guys the Celtics have brought in, but the one issue is the Celtics aren't going to keep all of them. I seriously wonder if Smart, Hunter, Rozier, Young, Bradley, Sullinger, Olynyk, Zeller, Mickey are all going to be here 2 years from now. It's not that any of them are bad. I think they will all be good players, but the only guys I see as top notch players on the team going forward are Smart and possibly Rozier (Feel free to disagree). Again no knock on any of those guys, but the Celtics have an ocean of valuable picks and they need their centerpiece players. When the centerpiece gets here, the Celtics will have to open up some roster space to make room for them. Whether we like it or not, some of our young guys are going to be traded.

I liked Portis and still do, but I also like all three of our picks so I won't complain.  I felt like Portis would be the second or third best player out of this draft.  He hasn't done anything to make me change my mind.

Portis has had the best pre-season. Rozay alright tho, so not mad.

Nah. Oubre was the last dude on the board that I'd have been psyched about. I'm really happy that Rozier seems to be playing above his pedigree for us so far. Dekker doesn't look like anything special to me.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Was hoping for Portis or Anderson at the time, but Rozier has been a nice surprise and should either yield a nice return or be a good piece to have if Smart gets dealt (not that I am hoping for that).

I am not mad, but Portis looks like a player - luckily so does Rozier.

I find it odd how people underrate Dekker. He's 6'9 with a great all around game. Looks like a slightly taller Gordon Hayward, who btw took some time to develop in the NBA. He's not flashy, but he does have some decent athleticism and skill for his size.

Portis has been tearing it up in pre-season. I know we have a ton of PFs already, but he sure looks fantastic so far.

Dekker is no Gordon Hayward part 2.  He doesn't have the handles Hayward has. Makes a difference.

Dekker is more like a Jerebko.  Which is a good thing but not a starting sf in the league

not sure about Dekker yet, but Portis has looked really good.  sort of like a Taj Gibson for the modern NBA.  im still concerned the celts might have missed a significant piece of the puzzle there, especially with KO and Sully continuing to look like career backups.

Ehh, I'm not sure Portis is starting caliber yet.

It's early, but so far it looks like we may have dodged a bullet by not trading up for Winslow. He looks pretty bad so far. Stanley Johnson looks much, much better, and so do the guys we drafted.

I wonder what happened with Portis. The majority of mocks had us taking him at 16.

Man, he's got some crazy eyes, too. I guess hindsight is 20/20 ... but how did we miss the crazy eyes?!
