Judging someone by their appearance is pretty silly.

Dennis Rodman must have driven the OP nuts. Not only crazy hair, but changes every few weeks. LOL

I guess I will catch a lot of flak for this topic, but I just think the weird hairdo should go.

I used to play football (soccer) in Belgium and we would play extra hard against the guy who was wearing pink or yellow shoes (instead of the regular black). To me, this is similar.

I know Sully's hair is the same right now (so perhaps it is in fashion?) but I somehow expect more from Smart.

Silly?
their heads remind me of a wooden hedgehog with red bristles my wife picked up years ago to wipe our feet on before going in the house.

I was pretty much expecting my original post to come across wrong. I am not sure how to confer my thoughts correctly, but I am not "judging". To me, that stuff just suggests that he is not fully focused on his craft.

I do not remember - but I could be wrong - any established greats with these type of quirky looks. Jordan, Kobe, KG, Pippen, Magic, Ray, PP, Bird, Duncan, ...

Even Rodman was a DPOY and, if I recall correctly, a champion before the crazy looks came.

It is something that, strangely, Young appears to have outgrown ahead of Sully or Smart.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

I'm going the other way. I'm hoping that the rest of the team also goes bleach fauxhawk.

I'm fully on board with this but I'll settle for just Kelly.
It would be weird, but Kelly could go Birdman.

I would be much more worried he would look like this former Ainge favorite...

How is having a different hair style not focusing on his craft. Even if he played 8 hours a day, 6 days a week you still have an off day to do stuff like that. How many hours do some of the players spend playing video games instead of practicing? I bet a bunch of players do things in their off time that could be spent in other areas, but they are allowed to have lives out side of basketball. Down time is a big thing, clear ones head, get refocused. And if Smart wants to do off beat hair styles, fine by me, much better than going out drinking every night and showing up to practice or games hung over.

It´s fashion for these kids and they like it, let them have it. Today I wish I didn´t wear what I wore when I was young, but back then I thought it was cool. So what.

Rock that uglyhawk proud Marcus & Sully!

E. In the early 90´s it was all the craze to shave a line in to your hair and I remember watching college games, they shaved lines in to their armpit hair  ;D

I think youre just really out of touch with hair styles now a days.  fauxhawks are very common among athletes now, and theres plenty of people that have bleached them before marcus smart.

not only that, but it takes 20 minutes to get a hair cut and maybe what? another hour to bleach it.  how is that taking away from his dedication to his craft??  Its a hair cut.  Hes not starting a reality TV series and appearing on celebrity games shows every week

yeah, is it me or are marcus and jared the only guys w this style? i thought it was weird a bit but figured i guess thats popular now, but i dont seem to see a lot of other players w it.
do we just have 2 major trendsetters?
anyway, i think it looks bad.
but whatever.

Odell Beckkham is the first one I saw with it. He's the trendsetter.

How do you "play extra hard" against a guy in soccer?  You dribbled the ball at him instead of open space?  You aimed at him for a free kick instead of the goal?  You put extra coverage on him so he didn't get the ball?  Do you think it set him straight?
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

That's nice. Guess you've never seen a game of football before.
