a very slick pass inside,a nice fade away in the paint and a penetration ally opp to mickey, then sprinkle in some rebounds and again good d with those long arms-
he passed up an open look and passed to a better look
i saw him use the fading floater during summer league and loved it then
it is all the little things he is doing as he adds to flow

Looks like he's getting noticed. This is from Pelton's chat from earlier today -

Trey (SLC)

I know we haven't even played a real game yet, but through summer league and preseason is there a rookie that is standing out as a guy that was a steal at his draft position?

Kevin Pelton  (3:18 PM)

Bobby Portis has looked good basically every time I've seen him. R.J. Hunter has been terrific during preseason and has done nothing to decrease my belief he'll be the steal of the draft.

maybe. but so far he isnt even the most impressive rookie on the celtics let alone the draft. rozier is looking very good.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

play of game to hunter again for passing- add to that, his defense was outstanding for a guy who couldn;'t play d and came from zone backgound, his off ball help  and reach ins with that wingspan-
this kid rarely looks lost on court,he can create his own shot or go with what the defense gives him-from the wing crosscourt to james for corner three with all sorts of time -young missed-

i just can't help watching rj on defence the way he overplays and beats his opponents to the spot and channels them to help,  or uses that length against post ups and to help on off the ball ,then there are the steals in the passing lanes and blocks from behind with that length
there were a couple early possessions in last two games where i was in basketball heaven with this rookie over his defence and passing-bbig,bbiq
one game he gets blocked, the next he does a reverse using the rim as a shield -bbiq,bbiq
how he finds the cutters for quick on the money passes, pocket passes, base line bounce passes alley opps from almost half court or in the paint in traffic to mickey -bbiq,bbiq
navigates the paint looks like he is going baseline and hits cutting jerebko-thats special, really special or the crosscourt pass from wing to the corner and perfectly placed for a wide open 3 ,just special, really special in its simplicity and effectiveness
this is a boy that will play better with better players and against ,he does not impede but facilitates and when he gets his timing and spots right he will run routes like prince
he has gotten stronger as we have watched pre season
thank you jordon for the skinny kid who has to play smarter

He's also great at understanding when to fall back off his man to shore up the defense. He's just a very heady player. Great to watch.
