When a player is fouled for the 10th time in a game , the team has the right to substitute any player on the floor to shoot the free throws. What are your thoughts?

just to be clear, you're stating that this would kick in the 10th time a player is fouled?  who are you projecting that this would impact and what's the benefit of it?

are you trying to avoid a hack-a-player-X strategy?

Personally, it's a drag to watch but it's a valid strategy.  if the player/team being fouled wants to avoid that strategy being used against them, get the player to shoot better shots (assuming the player sucks at the FT line).  Other than a handful of players that might have the ball in their hands enough to be fouled 10 times in a game that cannot shoot FTs (Rondo, Dwight, Shaq when he played), what's the point?

The other thing that comes to mind are the players, Lebron specifically, that would be fouled 10 times a game (through generous officiating) wouldn't need or use that rule.

No

If a player is aggressive they will get to the line a bunch of times, and the opposing team will, or should have guys in foul trouble if one player has been fouled that many times.

I have a feeling this is about intentional fouls. Which should be treated as technical/flagrant fouls since they are none basketball plays. Two shots and the ball. It will make players play, wait for it.....Defense.

Yes this is what I am suggesting. It would impact players like D.Jordan the most. I think it would add to the strategy. You would still be able to foul those players but only until they have 10 total.

Why?  This would make games longer.

Stick to your day job, I do not think James Naismith is in any danger  with this rule proposal.  Fouling a guy who can't shoot free throws is a strategy as well and it punished those who can't shoot them.

The game is fine as it is, this would add a bunch of TV time outs, commercials, and add time to the game that is not needed.

How would this extend the games? If anything it might shorten them slightly by possibly eliminating the "Hack a Shaq" strategy (That does extent game length).

We could also make any basket for a player under 6 feet be 3 points.

well I dont really like any new rules, but how often would this come up? how many tims was someone fouled 11+ times last year?

Intentionally fouling is part of the game. 5 seconds left, down one, you can play D for thew steal but you have to foul. It would be like saying you can't run out of bounds to stop the clock in football- it would take a lot of fun out of the 4th quarters.

Okay, I might be the only one who feels this way, but I think Hack-a-Shaq is a totally legitimate strategy and would oppose this rule. There are numerous keys to being an all-around superstar, and one of them is being able to shoot a free throw. Sure, it might be a little less exciting if players spent less time practicing dunks and more time practicing free throws, but I'm not sure that's a bad thing.

I like it. Hack a Blank is an aesthetic downer.

Either change the rules of the game, or have the professional basketball player learn to shoot free throws. Ill go with the latter. At the rate DJ draws fouls, and the % cp3 shoots them, the clippers would be unstoppable late in games.

The free throw should be the easiest shot in the game. Suddenly big men that can hit them are less valuable. I'd say no.

Because LeBron is a good FT shooter??
