The C's should look to move Jones for a second round pick. That way they would end up getting 2 2nd round picks for essentially nothing. Even if they have to take back a player that will be cut, another pick wouldn't hurt.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Am I the only one annoyed by Stevens referring to Maine as down there ? Unless he meant it metaphorically. Regardless Mickey, young and rozier(at times) should be in Maine playing ball.
down there as sent down to the minors.

Even directionally he's kind of right. In Maine, going north is called going "Down East."

Not sure why it would catch your eye, there's nothing new there. Of course they'll look to trade someone before they cut a contract. Some return is better than no return -- this is a roster of replaceables anyhow.

Just saying how Jones alone has no value. So rather than cutting him and having the roster set at 15, we'll be exploring trades. And logically speaking, the likely candidates to be dealt are Sullinger and Turner. Bulpett seems to have a good rapport with Ainge, so I wouldn't think that was a throw away comment without substance.

Oh they'd be trying to get a 2nd round pick for Jones. Some team wanting to take a flyer on him on the final year of his rookie deal- similarly to what we did with Jae Crowder (although part of a very different trade, we really wanted a solid look at him and we got that).

Jones has a place in the league somewhere, just depends if teams would be willing to give up a 2nd round pick to secure his services before he hits waivers.
Philly would be perfect for him.
Maybe Charlotte now that MKG has gone down?

But yeah, the trades comment revolves around anyone who'll potentially be cut, not just our overloaded positions. Ainge always wants to get something- even if it's a small trade exception of some kind.
I've been thinking Philly all along but Charlotte would seem to have a natural need this year.  One would have to think (hope) that Charlotte would be interested in taking a shot on PJIII to fill that hole even if off the bench.

IMHO, Jones will simply get cut.   No one is going to trade anything for a player they can sign as a (cheap) free agent in a few weeks if they really want him because they all know that he eventually is going to be cut.

The only way he goes out in trade is if there is a larger trade, mainly about other players, in which his small contract is needed as filler.

As for whom might get traded among the parts of the roster that have actual trade value, for the moment, no immediate trade could include Jae, Jerebko or Amir, since they all signed new FA contracts.  They are not eligible to be traded until this winter (Dec 15).  I believe we are past the 30 days for the three rookie contracts so they are all now eligible or soon will be.

Long term, everybody on this roster is a potential trade candidate.   I strongly advise not to fall too much in love with any one player.   Danny already has a jammed roster and he owns some 6 picks next Summer.   Bodies simply have to be moved at some point.

I'd also point out that the player(s) most likely to be traded aren't necessarily going to be the one(s) you don't like.   Players playing well tend to have more value, after all.

The roster at this time next year is going to look very, very different than it does right now.

There is no "substance" to speak of here. Saying "it's certain the Celts will be looking at potential trades" is the basketball equivalent of saying "I'll check Amazon before I buy from my local bookstore". Again, no new information there beyond the obvious due diligence where diligence is due.

Yes, this is such an important point you've made...
Certainly as important as Steve Bulpett's. But I guess he had to fill the fluff Celtics piece with something.

Anyone see the trades that might be made--Turner and a pick for Steve Adams--I think.  Can't find it now.

found it,  but it was last month?

Another candidate is Mickey.

Maybe a top-heavy team in need of depth?  Signed at $1.2 for four years, he could become a homeless man's Tristan Thompson in a year or two...

I think the C's want to keep Jones.
He's very much a CBS system guy, capable of guarding up to 4 positions on defense.

No shot Mickey is traded, imo. He signed one of the biggest/longest deals of any second round pick ever. He's basically a first rounder for the Celtics. Anyway, I know this sounds crazy considering all of the hoopla around Thompson's contract, but I think you are selling Mickey's potential a little short there! Thompson can only rebound. He literally has no other skill. He can't shoot. Can't play great defense. Doesn't really block shots. I hope Mickey doesn't turn into Thompson or even a homeless man's version of Thompson..he has more potential considering he can rebound, play defense, block shots, and shoot jump shots. Still can't believe how much Thompson is demanding and that Cleveland is actually considering it..I'm still confused how he was the 4th pick in a draft and someone like Mickey fell to the early second round. Mickey is longer, has more skills, and is more athletic. Weird.

See, those are all the reasons why I'd move him now -- he's one of the few attractive players we have!  No one really wants to trade for Sully or Turner, or give us equal value for Thomas or Smart.  Lee isn't going anywhere, the new guys can't be traded yet.

Also, Mickey's 'limitless' potential might all the sudden get limited when he faces some real NBA talent.  His value very well could be at an all time high. Considering we have 5 legit bigs in front of him, and CBS only really wants to play one at a time -- I'd look to sell high on him now.
