- C's are playing better D in spurts

Is this because of Sully playing less, I think there could be correlation.   Certainly, was there last year when he went out with injury.

Sullinger is an enormous defensive liability.

Agree

Sully is the only player on the team with a negative +/- thus far (-7).
Finished at -8.  He is a superb rebounder  and average offensive player but his D drags his eff. down and 4 fouls tonight in 12 minutes.

Sully really doesn't look like he belongs in this rotation.  Haven't seen anything to change my mind about that so far in the preseason.

Agree, he needs a half court offensive with walking the ball up.   I was trying to prep peeps about this because all this alleged work on his body was not enough.    I think we should continue to make him work out some more with a trainer in Boston.  If I was management or the coach he would have some extra cardio assigned to he got down to 265 lbs.

At least we won.   I am really excited about these rookies, they do not look stars but they can play.  I think Hunter may be the best of them, he is so smart.   I am worried about Rozier's knee now.  Mickey looks solid.

We won, most all is well in the world.   Loved Amir.   Though Turner did ok for being rusty but I think his time here should come to an end.   He filled up the stat sheet but I would be all for trading him.

I am liking that Net's pick.

tonight's takeaways:

- Nets will be bad this year.  very bad./Really what I was watching the game for. They will earn us a top 10 slot before the lottery even without a major injury. Worse team than I thought.

- C's are playing better D in spurts,/Started very hot defensively, took a nice lead and then their depth ran up the score until the 4Q D-league.

- was an Amir fanboy before this year and becoming a bigger fan each day/The other reason for watching tonight. You can see why Amir’s so strong on advanced stats.

- was getting behind the idea of IT as a starter for the first 5 minutes and then, not so much.  way too much jump passing, losing dribbles and passes that were more difficult than they should have been,/ I hope CBS keeps him in the 6th man role.

- C's will be tough to beat if more than IT, Lee and Amir get hot in a game./I’m raising my win estimate. Shooting for 50. They are so deep that they’ll wear some teams down.

- Like Sully's hustle and rebounding. / I want him down low.

- Liked KO's passing./Liked him being aggressive and staying aggressive despite some bad outcomes, and then looking good in second half. So far so good.

- Hunter and Mickey look like pretty solid picks so far./ Like Mickey, but very impressed by Hunter. Think Rozier and Mickey are in D-League and Hunter and Young are up in the NBA. Hunter has an NBA-ready skill. They have to figure out what they have in Young.

- Jerebko has got to make more of an impact when he's in the game, / I think he is a nice glue guy. That’s it.

- Turner will keep a role on this team if for no reason than when the offense is in the toilet, he can still work his midrange game until someone else gets untracked. /There’s some merit to what you’re saying, but then I also see him being ball-dominant and putting the team offense in the toilet.

TP for helping me organize my thoughts. I agree with most of yours.

Evan Turner, 4-9 FG, 10 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 1 turnover, and everyone wants to dump the guy based on this game?? Really???

The box score doesn't tell the whole story

I feel like I'm the only one here who still thinks Turner is a key part of this team.  Statistically he was our best player down the stretch last season.  Seems like everyone here wrote him off.

Because box score events don't equate to "statistically our best player" and the fact that he was useful last year doesn't mean there is still a need for him in the rotation.

Or do you really think his spin pull-ups and fadeaways are a key part of how this team is going to win games?

I was in the game tonight!

Pretty impressed by RJ Hunter. That kid is going to be an all-star

Young showed some improvement, mainly on the defensive end.

Evan Turner was OK. His play on the first half was terrible but he was great on the second...

Mickey is great. We should keep this kid! He can become a very good basketball player.

We have a ton of depth. I'm ready for a Playoff run!!!  8)

The good
-AJ worked inside and outside depending on his pairing effectively.
-Hunter is still playing well and looks like even if he was to struggle shooting he will always impact the game other ways.
-IT played his reliable game. He is showing he is the same guy C's got last year and can lead the offense.
-Young played with more urgency and helped the team maintain the win with some hustle plays.
-Mickey does his thing again too. Very positive for a bigman rook.

The middle
-Sully rebounded well but failed to switch well on D. Looks way too big still. He can't keep up with average PFs.
-KO was his usual mixed bag.
-Crowder had his usual game.
-Turner had his usual game.

The bad
-PJ3 has size, skill, and athleticism but still doesn't know how to use it.
-JJ struggled especially on D.
-The team seemed to miss the guys that were out and some lineup combinations were horrible.

You're quoting me on this so, no, it wasn't just when Sully was in the game.  it applied to everyone who hit the court in that game.  Can't piggyback your incessant Sully bashing on anything I've said without misconstruing the original content.

Sully was no better or worse than any other big on D last night.  He made a positive impact on the boards -- moreso than the other bigs.  he made some good and bad defensive plays last night just like everyone else.  I didn't see anything worth pointing out that he did that separated him from the other bigs -- good or bad -- other than rebouding.  I noticed a significant difference between Sully going for the ball as opposed to KO or Zeller -- much more effort and better positioning.  Also saw Sully dive for a steal -- didn't see the other bigs do that.
