Russell is going to be a star.  Kid can shoot.

I didn't watch the game, but my feeling is that younger players feel relieved when Kobe is not around.

As for Russell, 8/12 3pts is clearly a great performance but IMO we should give this some more time. The League is full with talented young guards, it will take time before we know for sure which are the best of them.

HUGE WIN!!!!

Probably not well received by most Laker blogs where they pull for Nets to win and Lakers to loose.

Eh, Nets could lose every game here on out and I'm not sure they'd fall below the Lakers.  Like us, they should be rooting for the Suns.

Nets continue to prove what a pathetic road team they are. This road trip will be just pure gold for the Celtics if Brooklyn continues to lose games that they should conceivably win. Next two will be huge. They have to lose them and then see how the two PHX/MIN games that are still on the schedule go. Two wins for PHX against Minny would be awfully nice.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Lets hope the Nets suffer in the Colorado altitude.

Will Barton needs a big game. Go Willy!

hes just a rookie, but I've seen plenty of evidence he will be a great player long term.  It will be interesting when he has a coach who isn't actively trying to hold him back.

Exactly.  I will stay off the national sports websites today because I know they will blow this out of proportion because it's the lakers.  Kid had a great game no doubt but lets see him do it consistently (and it translating to wins) before we annoint him a star.

I haven't watched him a ton this year but watching ever since seeing him play in college I thought he would be a star. I'd probably trade Smart for him, and I am a huge Smart fan.

I've kind of given up hope that Brooklyn can catch Phoenix for 3rd worst.  Phoenix has reached new levels of bad recently.  I think we need to focus our collective rooting interests to Minny getting a few more wins to guarantee us 4th.

How sweet would it be if the lottery gods were kind and the Nets still got the top pick even with the fourth or fifth worst record?  And because I'm greedy, how great would it be if the lakers finished with the worst or second worst record and still fell out of the top 3?  Odds be [dang]ed!

Still think 4 is very good.  Simmons and Ingram going 1/2.  Leaves Bender and Brown IMO going 3/4.  I'll take either, but I do love Brown's game.

There are many aspects of the LAL rebuilding I disagree with, but to me the most absurd side of the choice of coach.

Why choose a mediocre coach everyone suspects is there only as a medium term fix?

I'm also interested to see how things will work out once Kobe is gone, but from what I've seen so far, IMO  it will take them at least of couple of years more to have a non-lottery team.

Yep.  That's all there is to root for related to the Nets pick.  Similarly, there is no way the Nets catch NO or Denver for 6h.

I'm pretty much convinced that, even if BKN lost every game between now and the end of the season, they would still be ahead of Phoenix after 82 games. The Suns are Sixeresque.
