Hypothetically. People will say no way man he'll never sign here. I know this man the  question is if.
He would  fill two huge needs a  starting Small forward, and an all out star and go to guy.
Now we would be awesome right away, but something tells me we are not complete to compete for a title.

So what one player would get us there, at  least close to winning a title.

Shaq, I'm guessing Connecticut if your serious. But it makes the point Celts would be must see TV.

The Wizards make a lot of sense for sure. But if he wanted to be the man in the East with a brilliant coach and the best Defensive first role players around him. And if your Durant you'd think history and franchise legacy may mean something to him.

Winning two or more titles here would be a fast track to the Hall of fame.

He won't sign here so no point in even considering it.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

It wouldn't be a rebuild anymore, although his injury history is starting to get scary.  We'd still need a center

#2 team in the East with Durant here. Clear separation from the pack.

You've seen the formula already!! The way it would actually play out is that we would trade half the roster/all of our draft assets for whatever player or pair of players that Durant wants, and then we would fill up the empty chairs with cheap veterans chasing rings.

Al Horford will be the top available player in 2016 to compliment KD, assuming Detroit extends Drummond and Lebron isn't trying to start a whole new superteam.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Considering KD is worth more than our entire roster and all of our picks combined, I would say it would change the rebuild quite a bit.

Obviously it would make KD an instant contender and I believe the Celtics ownership group wouldn't be afraid to pay the luxury tax to bring more titles to Boston.

Much different ownership group than the one in OKC.

Naturally having a guy like KD on our roster immediately makes the Celtics a prime free agent destination, and hence all we would need to do is free some cap space and we'd have every free agent under the sun wanting to come here.

I think that, in itself, is impact enough.

I wouldn't say never .

If he is 100 % same old Durant , then the chances are mega slim .

If he returns  less than the player he once was , then several opportunities might arise .  Who would have thought Cleveland would really be relevant .   Weird stuff happens .

Maybe he goes to a team Where he doesn't have to carry the load so much.

If the OKC mgmt can't bring in more younger talent to support , I can see him jumping ship to hunt a better place to win a ring .   He doesn't want to wind up,like Mello.

Durant would be the rebuild. The only thing it would change is the names on the roster and the Celtics being a top two seed year in and year out.

All may be true, but why would he go to Boston.  Washington has Wall and Beal (as well as other young players).  He is from Washington.

Durant will either re-sign with the Thunder or go to the Wizards.  He isn't going to go anywhere else.
