who needs winslow, there will be another like him
,danny knew what he was getting in IT, a genious of a player,an electrifiying crowd pleaser and a player that will embrace boston and its organization
-he is the next celtics star, his play last year was even more amazing considering the severity of his injury and its effects on a player who needs every bit  of explosiveness and agility
-if you take his stats using a 36 per even on a new team with new players while playing injured-IT becomes a top tier pointguard
rozier is lucky to have IT to mentor him on how to use his tools and finishing against bigs-

I love IT. But I don't think he'll ever be a star due to his size and the limitations that brings. That said, I want to see him as a Celtic for a long, long time. I think he and Marcus Smart can be a nice tandem and it'd be great if he won a couple of 6th man awards along the way to a few championships.

But he's probably never going to be a true star.

I'm half with you on this one Rollie. Thomas is an absolutely dynamic player who's playing his best basketball ever here in Boston and can produce the type of stats a "star" player gives you. Comparing him to the likes of Nate Robinson and Spud Webb (as I've seen done around here countless times) is an insult to IT. Those dudes can't hold his jockstrap, Thomas is much more like prime Jamal Crawford than prime Nate Robinson.

Now, if Isaiah Thomas is your best player, your not gonna even come close to contending for a championship. He's too limited by his size to be a true super-star or even a Kevin Love circa 2013 level star. But as a third major piece on a contender? I think so. There really isn't any guys in the league who can do what he does so effectively as a 6th man in the whole league right now. He's on an insanely good contract and is entering the prime of his career.  I think he can play a pretty large role in a rhetorical near future Celtics playoff contender.

I think Jerebko's hustle should not be over looked as well.

IT has the ability to frustrate and embarrass opposing players ,not only the guards but more so the bigs
IT's ability to get to foul line and draw fouls from bigs is totally under estimated,it is a game changer
at times
opposing guards being hounded by smart and avery all game, then have to face stopping IT in 4th quarter not an envious task and the bigs have been run ragged by the celts fast bigs and depth-as we get deeper into season and defenses stagnate-i give the 4th quarter to the celts and IT

I'm still a bit torn on Isaiah, but I'm starting to warm up to him.  He's not perfect, but he sure is a talented, dynamic player to watch.

I'll admit that part of my reticence in embracing him has probably been influenced by my avid support of Rajon Rondo as the point guard of the Boston Celtics.

Time heals all wounds, though, and I'm starting to feel ready to go all in on the Isaiah Thomas bandwagon.

ITs limitations on the defensive end will forever prevent him from becoming a star. His defensive stats are truly horrible. Also, I question his handle when pressured enough. Too often in last years playoffs he tried to penetrate only to turn the ball over all by himself. Small sample size? Maybe. But it's something he needs to address.

He is an excellent, instant offense, off the bench player but really that's all he will ever be. Still a great player to have on an amazing contract but I don't see him being the third wheel on a championship team. His defense just isn't up for that even if his offense is.

isaiah said he was still bothered by back during playoffs and marcus said his explosiveness suffered all season-in the case of thomas being hampered  in any way which effects hs speed, agility or ability to take a hit, its a big deal-
this years first team will be better than last year-in the 4th quarter isaiah and marcus might be the go to guys along with amir or lee-

True until we play Wade and his thug buddy Whiteside and they take out 2 or 3 of our best players with dirty tactics.

Not to mention the Lakers signed Metta World Thug back.... :(.......so he ll take out Harden , Westbrook, etc.

I think he can definitely be a third option on a championship team. Absolutely. If we had even one other player capable of scoring 20 a night on last season's team, it would've freed Thomas up in the playoffs and we would've stolen a couple of games from the Cavs.

IT and Lee will keep this team entertaining through another bridge year, though watching the Nets hoping they'll lose will be nearly as exciting.

I love IT and he's a ton of fun to watch, but he's also a severely limited player, and good teams, like the Cavs last year, can easily exploit his weaknesses. With that said, I love seeing him in Celtics green and hope he earns the recognition he deserves in the form of the SMOY Award this year.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

It's easy to exploit one's weakness when they're the only capable scorer on the team.

A lot is being said about IT's lack of size etc, it has to be said though that his individual weaknesses are less of a problem if the team as a whole is stronger in those areas. While Smart and Bradley being strong defenders doesn't help IT when he is one on one with a player, their presence should help limit the chances of that happening. The extra size the team has acquired should also help IT.

Conversely, his consistency scoring will help take pressure of others. IT will continue to do well in the CBS system and help make the team better than the sum of its parts. While I am waiting to see if Smart and Sullinger can produce the sort of play we know the team needs from them, I am certain what IT will produce every game.
