Let's sign him and field an entire lineup of forwards.

Seriously.  There really is no point to signing him at the moment.

Only reason I can see is the Kelly Olynyk team Canada built in chemistry factor, but then Minnesotta had that too with Wiggins and still gave up on it.

Although Bennett'd be cheaper for us than Minnesotta as BDM860 mentioned he was still owed $13 million ($7 mil team option next year) on his current deal. Minny might have held onto him if he wasn't so expensive.

They way our roster is contructed now we would need a couple of 2-for-one deals to justify signing AB. Too many cooks.

This is a little hyperbolic.  We could start 2 combo guards and 3 power forwards, we could "go small" as the kids say and start a dynamic lineup of 3 combo guards and 2 power forwards...the possibilities are endless!

Probably true, although I've heard time and again that having a player picked that high in the draft on your roster greatly improves the odds you'll win the title. Maybe he'll do what Pervis and Kandi couldn't.

Now I don't know if this is just his agents trying to save face, but if not this really bothers me (from Woj's article):

Quote
Bennett's reps have been eager for a contract buyout to allow him the chance for greater playing time, league sources said. The Timberwolves have a deep frontcourt, and there is little, if any, future for him with the franchise.

I would think Minnesota would be a good situation for him.

You get to be mentored by KG (and also learn from solid vets like Andre Miller and Tayshaun Prince), play with a pass first PG in Rubio, and you have Wiggins and Towns shielding you from the spotlight and expectations.

Isn't Towns going to get a lot of his minutes at Center?  So he's really only competing with KG (who you know is not going to play everyday, and is only playing 20mpg when he does) and Adreian Payne?  There's easily 25mpg available to him if he earns it.

Like I said before, I think a lot of teams could want him, but I don't know any that's going to give him minutes.  A lot of teams (especially rebuilding ones) seem to have a logjam down low.  Philly, Orlando, Utah, Sacramento, Charlotte, etc.  No way a guy like him could handle NY or LA, and they have young guys ahead of him already anyway.  If he can't earn minutes on a 16-66 team, I really don't know what else is out there for him.

I could see middle of the pack and playoff teams rolling the dice if they have a roster spot (hey Brooklyn needs all the lottery tickets they can get), but I can't see any places that are going to give him an automatic 25+mpg.  Maybe Phoenix if their Markieff Morris situation doesn't work out?  Maybe Portland?

If this guy is looking for automatic minutes, he's in trouble.  I personally can picture him in Minnesota with KG trying to work with him, and then KG not liking his effort/passion and chewing him out, with Bennett walking off the court in frustration and KG cussing him out the whole way.  Hey Towns hasn't had any problem working with KG, why not you Bennett?

This reminds me of Gerald Green asking out of a post-KG Minnesota in '08.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

If anything, I think Bennett is more likely to earn limited but consistent minutes on a better team that's lacking in depth, where his youth and talent might stand out more and his defensive weakness might be more easily covered.

Maybe the Jazz.  They need bigs with some range and he'd only be competing with Booker and Lyles.

Perhaps Dallas or New Orleans will take a chance on him.  The Pellies in particular need depth given how injury prone Ryan Anderson and Perk are, and Bennett could thrive next to AD.

Indiana also comes to mind.

I have to think his agent already has a destination wrapped up for Bennett if Bennett is the one asking for the buyout. I personally don't care where that destination is because the Celtics already have a bazillion PFs and don't need more.

I think Bennett has enough taken to hang around the league a while but primarily as a deep bench guy. I don't see him getting consistent minutes anywhere right away until he proves something in camp.

If he's ok with the Red Claws for a year I don't see the problem.

Toronto could use another PF to complement Scola and Patterson.

How funny would it be if he went back to Cleveland
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I'd do trade for Bennett if they add more guys say
Deing, Tyrus, Bennett and Muhammad
For
AB, Turner, PJ3, Sully and C's return Wolves pick.

C's still need more roster moves so would send IT, Bennett and Zeller/Deing (their choice of center) to Jazz for Favors.

C's
Smart/Rozier/TJ
Muhammad/Hunter
Crowder/Young/JJ
AJ/Lee/Mickey
Favors/Deing/KO

Danny will find a way to sign him. Then have the NBA change the allowable players on the team to rise to 17

But seriously ,I think he will try to sign him

Still wished we grabbed Thomas Robinson when he was available during and then again after the season.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

would not be the least surprised if it's Philly

Good point, Philly would make sense, and they could offer him more than the minimum.

Philly tried to acquire him once.  I sort of figured he might end up there, though frankly I'm not sure they really have minutes for him at PF (though would potentially at SF).  I mean it seems pretty obvious that Noel and Okafor are going to be playing together a lot (Noel the PF), then they also have Aldemir and Landry, not to mention Sampson, Covington, and Grant as tweeners and Thompson as a pure SF.  And of course they still potentially have Embiid returning next year.  Not exactly a lot of room for Bennett in that rotation.
