and smart turned in a decent season on offence and was very good on d-those other guys have missed their rookie year and have to come back damaged
-exum didn't do well and now out for year-
anybody not glad we picked smart-
-the durability factor can't be underated--

I'm glad we took smart

But those injuries have not much to do with durability but more with bad luck...
and only randle was still available for us to pick...

i still suspect parker will turn into a perennial all star but we coudnt have picked him anyway.
I'd take marcus over any of the rest of that group.

Marcus will be an all star sooner than you think

Biggest obstacle is how stacked the PG position is right now.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

It makes more sense to look at guys who were available at our pick - Randle is one, but then Stauskas has already been basically given away, Vonleh glued to the bench and traded away (to be fair, to acquire a better player), Payton a solid but flawed PG, McDermott unable to get time (to be fair, on a good team)...the list goes on and on, very few rooks picked after Smart have shown much promise so far.

How good Smart will be is very much up in the air, but so far he looks like a good pick given what was available at #6.

agreed -- comparing Smart to players already off the board only makes sense if one wants to say we got a better player than we should have and comparing him to who was selected after points should point out to doubters that Smart was not a "swing and miss" pick.

I was ok with the pick at the time.  even more comfortable about it now.  very confident we got BPA for our pick.

Love Marcus, on sheer desire/will alone.
Talent is a just bonus and development will come.

That being said, I'm not turning down any trade offer that involves an allstar player under the age of 26

Are you referring to the East or the current Celts team? Both are stacked. IMO Smart will be a perennial all star only at the point.....not at the 2/combo

We got a top 3 pick level talent at 5.   Randle , stauskus , vinleh etc are the next set of prospects
