In an attempt to generate discussion, these 2 games are coming up in about 3 weeks time, Do you think that Boston will treat these games in Milan & Barcelona in a more serious manner than normal pre season games against NBA competition?
Will NBA pride take over?

Here is a list of some of the contests between the NBA and international competition over the years

110-15 overall record in the NBA favor

I wonder if the roster will be finalized by that point, with us having 16 contracts and all.

What makes you think we would have to do this against largely inferior squads from Europe.   My money is on the NBA guys.  So far they have beat had a 88% winning record against them.

We will play it like we will a normal NBA game.

Over the last few years you have had the Spurs lose to Berlin, Lakers lose to Barcelona, Minnesota lose to Moscow, the first 20 years NBA squads virtually went undefeated against international teams, they are catching up.
Even the Celtics lost in a game in Turkey a few years back.

It 1000% will not be finalized by that point.

In fact, I'm sure we'll have a mess of training camp invites along for the ride as well (you're paying for the whole plane, might as well fill it).
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I'd say forget about the opponent and run stuff we plan to run. Probably give the young players some minutes more.

Real Madrid will be some good test. Very experienced team, half of the Spanish national team plays there + veterans such as Ayon and Nocioni. I haven't watched Milano in a lot of time.

I will care who wins just as much as I care who wins a Summer league game. The more important things to me would be lineups tried by Brad, how well we rotate defensively, what stuff do we run on offense, etc...

And no injuries!
"We do so many defensive drills in practice, I come home and I'm putting the press on my woman, denying her the ball.
Y'all are laughing, but it's sad. I go home and deny the wing."

Maintain the course, stay healthy, and see which players can't stand loosing.

I'll guess Smart, Crowder, and Bradley will not like the thought of loosing in Europe.
