Young vs. Jones

Personally, I'd love to keep all sixteen players currently on our roster, but that's just not possible.

If no trade happens before the roster deadline, who should go?

Poor Danny,that is going to be a tough decision.
might have to go with Jones, only because he had his (limited) chance to show his skills.
but Young was disappointing in summer league.

Waive Evan Turner.

As others have said, trade Evan Turner, even for just a 2nd round pick. I like Turner, CBS has done a great job with him, and he likes Turner, but I just don't see ET as part of our future and there is no sense in cutting a young prospect with potential such as James Young or PJ3 instead of moving ET. Considering his contract, he should be very easy to move.

If they had to choose, Boston would choose James Young because the organization drafted him last year and he is the youngest player on the roster.

Jones was drafted by another franchise and is about 4 years older and has a questionable motor.

if the only option is to waive a player, it's Jones.  Had 3 years to show something and hasn't yet.  still hanging around in the league based on 'potential'. 

Young is also hanging around based on potential but he's just coming off his rookie year where he may not have looked good on the big league court but he looked pretty good in D-league. 

contractually, Young is ours for 2 more years than PJIII which is another thing in his favor. 

Best case for PJIII right now is a Turner-like utility man off the bench that Stevens could plug into 2-3 different spots in the line-up.  Young's best case is that he develops into our starting SG/SF.

If it's a choice between only those two (as others have pointed out it isn't), it's not a tough decision at all.  The only way we're waiving a guy after just one year when we drafted him knowing he'd need time to develop is if that's the only way we could land a superstar talent. 

Even if PJIII somehow blew everyone's mind in training camp we'd still find a way to drop another guy instead, or at a bare minimum trade Young for some kind of asset.

Sorry to change the players discussed but I could see Zeller being let go.

I think he's going to see a lot less minutes if Amir Johnson and Lee are healthy.

This might not be the popular decision on the boards ,  but it's the most likely analysis and outcome based on DA s past decisions.

The correct move is to dump ET .   Then have both barrels loaded for a trade to get somebody really good down the line.

lol I will never understand why everyone on this board wants Turner gone so bad. He's a solid NBA player and has good upside for the cost. Not to mention he was huge for our team last year
