I think a certain player would have been better served working out here than in Texas.  Those harnesses are for cross fit and power training, not jogging and the like, the former is much harder.

Good for team morale and cohesion to work out like this, too.

It does almost seem as if only one young guy has been stubborn about not being seen in Boston this off-season. Because he knows they want him here? Or because he doesn't want them to see what condition he's in?

Please, don't anyone go trying to tell me that he's one of the team's leaders!

some real negitivity from the peanut gallery,if sully was here just working out that would be a major concern,
the fact he humbled himself and went to lucas an addict himself shows a real level of comittment to losing weight and keeping it off
he moved his father out of his day to day-kudos to sully for going to the right place ,a no nosense program both mental and physical

Good Lord, can the freaking season start already?! lol  :'(

It's really tough being a sports fan who only enjoys one sport, basketball!

It's nice to see the new, young guys putting some work in.

There's always the WNBA  ;D
would rather go watch the local rec league.

So I'm the peanut gallery now, Rollie?

Sully hasn't been seen here once over the summer, has only been working out with Lucas for a matter of weeks. Nope, not leadership when every other young guy is here at some point.

But I agree with you on RJ and Young.

it's much ado about nothing.  As long as Sully's working out and comes into camp ready to play and in shape (better shape anyways), things are fine.  Also, summer's not over - he still may come to Boston pre-camp anyway

If he can't take the heat, then don't be a pro.   This is all on him, he is one that let himself go physically and lacked discipline.  Only a really weak minded player, takes negativity to heart,  most guys with competitive spirit want to prove their naysayers wrong.   Other the weakest of minds quit from negativity, adversity can make you stronger in many cases if you over come it.   I do not know if we want a guy who quits the moment, some negative comments get made.

On the other hand, he sees this rooks busting tail and working their butts off, he might realize he is going to have compete for a job and not just from them.   I seriously, doubt, John Lucas, has training facilities as good as the Celtics or professional trainers as good as the pros.   He might help Sully more in mental aspects of recovery though.

You played back in the day, right.   Did Rollie Massimino drop negative comments on his players ever?  We both know he did.

Quote
"Do you think I want to be doing this?" Massimino erupted. "Do you think I want to be screaming at you? Do you bleepers really think I want to go to the Final Four? Listen, there's much more to life than that.

"Do you know what I'd really rather be doing now than anything? Than being here in this room? I'll tell you. I'd rather be at home, sitting behind a big, steaming, heaping plate of spags (spaghetti). Yeah, that's right! Macaroni! Linguini with clam sauce! I'd rather be doing that than losing this [dang] game! Now get out there and do what got you here in the first place!".

Looks like your former coach was part of the peanut gallery, too.

Cupcake workouts compared to what we have seen in Waltham from the rooks.   Guy is still slow, will be slow.

Recall this was a workout from the best shape of his life, last year.

We all know how that turned out.

I agree, recall Ainge said this :

Quote
“I don’t know the answer to that,” Ainge said. “I think that’s up to Jared. He has in place for him all the tools, it’s just a matter of him being able to do it.”

Read more at: http://nesn.com/2015/02/danny-ainge-rips-jared-sullingers-conditioning-hes-not-up-to-par/

It is a matter of which place you think he was referring too.  I think Ainge trusts him about as far as he can spit.  So he signed Amir and traded for Lee, in case things do not work out.

It is a big year for him, time will tell if he made the right decision.   Of course, it is always best to go maverick and workout by yourself, NOT!   He tries to play hero ball at the end of games, too.  But in some ways I am glad too, he is not around to poison the rookies with his laziness, so I guess that is the positive.

Watch some of thos Pro-Am games Sully played in this summer with zero competition, you might find a better game in the rec league.

This was in July 2015, a guy can make a lot of progress in a month though but this was some weak competition and he still looks slower than pond water.

The rookies in the Waltham look to be working out at a harder pace.   Harder pace is always better if he has the weight down, and the risk on injury is gone.   One has to push oneself, to improve athletically, I am not saying no pain no gain.   The whole cardiovascular conditioning and hypertrophy is based on raising stress so your body adapts and can perform better.

The realisation is hitting home , God Danny will you get some real difference makers in here, not one Celtics player would  make a all NBA 10th team let  along a 1st ,2nd or 3rd team. Hope these guys have long and successful careers and Brad 'MacGyver' Stevens can get this group of mediocre talent to overachieve this season, Hoping the Nets suck real hard is the only thing to look forward to at this rate.3rd year of a 5 year rebuilt yippee.
Good that they are building chemistry , make the trips that most of them take to Maine less lonely I guess.

Calm down.  You haven't even seen a game from this group yet.  Jesus Christ...

I don't think Young looks any bigger. More ripped, and looks older.

Smart however definitely is more chizled than he was last year. Which is fantastic.

I know right? After two years of a total rebuild we should already have traded for/signed/developed multiple all-stars by now! Going from one of the leagues 5 worst teams to a playoff contender last year with one of the leagues youngest teams means there's nothing to look forward too since we won't win a championship.

Your supposed to go straight from a horrible team to a contender overnight, right? Is that not how this works, or have I been misinformed?

It's great to see so many of our young guys hanging around Waltham this summer. It seems to me our young core of guys genuinely like each other, and it looks like they're buying into what CBS is selling.

This team developed a great defense-first, all hustle all the times culture towards the end of last season with guys who play at 110% every single game. Half these guys may not be here by the time were a championship contender, but that culture will be. Man, Smart is like the physical embodiment of that mindset. I have questions about his game like everyone else but I think he has HUGE potential and I really have a hard time believing he's not going to do everything possible to reach that ceiling. He's the perfect leader for this young team going forward.

Heck, I know everyone's down on James Young but I think being drafted with Marcus Smart May be the best thing that coulda happened to him. You can tell he's really putting in the work to improve, and his work ethic was always one of his biggest question marks surrounding him. Having a guy like Smart around makes everyone around him work harder and become better.

I have gone on record as predicting that the Celtics will win 46 games this upcoming season and make the second round based on a collective effort defensively and that the Nets will give Boston a top 5 pick.
My issue is how can any long term fan of the Celtics get all enthused about individual players when it is more likely than not that  Ainge will have moved them on when the team is a legit contender again?

Great, let's stop caring until we win, that's what a fan does.

You do what you want, but I will continue to cheer on the guys who play for my fave team, even if DA ships our guys out tomorrow. I want the best out of anyone that plays for the Celts because it benefits us whether we trade, keep or release them!

The next 60 drafts and trades could be filled with players who may never be on a Celtics contender, I guarantee you will have been enthused with some of them.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)
