A couple of years ago, Olynyk tied for first on the survey's question about who would have the best career.
link?

The story linked above has the previous 7 years of rookie surveys linked near the top.

Didn't Olynyk have a lights out summer league that year?  It probably swayed some of the votes.  No reason to get overly excited about this rookie vote, especially since is probably being influenced mostly by summer league performance.  I think Hunter is really good value at 28 and probably the same for Rozier at 16 although a pick at 16 is less likely to be a "steal" than a pick at 28.  It is good feedback though.  I am happy to hear it.  Definitely better than not being voted as a steal.

Hunter and Mickey look like steals at their draft positions so far.  Rozier, I still think was a bit of a reach.  I think he'll be a solid rotation guy but I still think we missed the boat not drafting Portis.  time will tell if Danny missed on that.

Any recognition is good, but this needs to be taken into perspective (and I say this every year when these results come out):

Only 3 rookies (out of 34) thought RJ Hunter was the best shooter.

For biggest steal, RJ Hunter got only 3 votes, Terry Rozier 2, and Jordan Mickey 1 out of the 31 rookies who voted.

Don't get me wrong, I like to see the results of these type of polls too, but they really mean just about nothing when you dissect it a little bit.  2nd place sounds much better than "got 3 votes" but it means the same thing.

Sorry to go all LrdBrd here  ;D

That earned a TP. 3 votes sounds a bit less impressive than T2.

Just a clarification in addition to what you wrote. Celtics rookies cannot vote for each other. The 3 votes are not Terry, Jordan and Marcus.

I'm not sure but didn't 1st in biggest steal only get 4-5 votes? 3 doesn't sound impressive until you see that first wasn't much better.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Devin Booker.

RJ also tied with Pat Connaughton.

And, from the article: "Booker, who shot 40 percent from 3-point range and 88 percent from the free-throw line in Summer League, was the only player to receive more than half of the votes for any question."

He's still in the running.

I think in some ways he is our most game ready player out of the rookie class.

If we obtain WCS and KJ McDaniel (or some replacement at SF) we could be scary. Rather than bring in current stars - why not go for some form of a young Big Three? 2 SFs and 2 Cs will pan out from the previous two draft classes.

I think in some ways he is our most game ready player out of the rookie class.

If he added some weight (he's only 185 lbs) then I could see him coming in and getting spot minutes right away, but I think his defense will hold him back until then, and it will be Rozier getting the minutes instead
I'm bitter.

This gives us a glimpse into why players often make bad GMs.

Uh oh, Lbrd will be stewing.
i guess this negates us taking what experts call the biggest reach in the draft.

Let's be clear on RJ Hunter: He can shoot, and has enough size, length, lateral quickness, and smarts to be at least an adequate defender. What that adds up to is at least a guy who can hang around the league for a few years and contribute.

If you've picked up a guy who's very likely to be a contributor on some NBA team for the next few years at #28, you've done well.

I think if Hunter was taken 16th and Rozier was taken 28th, people would have been fine with it.  I expect both to spend most of their time in D-League this year regardless.

positive spin -- all of our draft picks were considered a steal by at least someone as opposed to none of our guys were considered a steal by anyone.
I'm going with this. Better than nothing.
