OK, let's look at it this way.

The Celts play all divisional opponents 4 times.

Sixers - 3-1
Raptors - 2-2
Nets - 3-1
Knicks - 3-1

Divisional record: 11-5

In addition, the Celts play other Eastern opponents as follows:

Pacers, Hornets, Bucks, Pistons . . . 4 times each except for 3 against the Hornets.  I'm gonna say 8-7.

Bulls and Heat . . . 3 times each.  Hawks and Wizards . . . 4 times each.  I'll say 6-8.

Magic . . . 4 times, 3-1.

Cavaliers  . . . 3 times, 1-2.

So, that's a 18-19 record against the rest of the East.  That gets us to 29-23 overall against the Eastern Conference.

Against the West, everybody twice.

Warriors, Spurs, Clippers, Rockets, Grizzlies, Thunder, Suns, Pelicans, Jazz, Mavericks . . . 20 games.  I'm gonna say 7-13.

Blazers, Nuggets, Kings, Timberwolves, Lakers . . . 10 games.  I'm gonna say 5-5, because it's tough to travel out West.

That's 12-18 against the Western Conference.

That gets us to 41-41.

Funny, I ended up pretty much smack dab in the middle of my prediction range despite doing this as I went along.

Imagine that.  :)

keep in mind it's tough for western teams coming here as well. the suns will be awful, the mavs will be bad, the pels and jazz will be mediocre. i see us going 5-3 just against that group. add another 7-3 record against the 5 bottom-feeders, and a few wins against the top teams, and i think your estimate is too low, i'd say 16-14 overall.

I think people are underestimating Dallas. DIRK has played with mediocre teammates his entire career so this season is nothing new to him. He will find a way to lead them to a serviceable record.

I'm curious what you think the Celts are going to be if you think those teams will be awful to mediocre.

Personally I expect the Suns, Pels, and Jazz to be pretty good, and the Mavs could be sneaky competitive as well, depending on health and how hard Carlisle pushes them.

My favorites are Sundays at 1.  There's usually 4-5 of those a year - including the automatic: SuperBowl Sunday (those usually start at 12:30!)  Just see three 3 PM games.

*feeling devastated*

Right there with you. My son is six and I'm trying to instill good values in him by taking him to as many games as possible, but he has a hard time staying up at night. I count 2X3pm games on Saturday and 2X3pm on Sunday.

Frankly, I consider it a little rude of them to make the schedule without consulting me first.

Fun little tidbit from Nets Daily

On first and second --maybe even the third-- reading of the schedule, things look bad.  Those first 10 games, with all those contenders?  Ugh!  The 11 road games in the first 16 games? Double ugh!!  And the 18 of the final 26 games away from Brooklyn? OMG.

It's kind of awful that we are only getting 7 games on National TV while the Lakers get 19. What a joke :-X

More opportunities to watch the Lakers lose on national television.

Watching the Nets and Dallas picks is going to be so fun this season.
Can't wait.

TP for the tidbit.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

My guess is the Lakers games will get dropped throughout the season much like they were last year.
