Without trades. What are the options. What two or so players are on the bubble. Perry Jones and who? All the rookies minus thorton take up a spot correct.

Dragic and Jones are on the bubble. But there has to be a trade regardless.

If Jones has a good preseason and Young continues to struggle, u may see Young traded
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I think CBS will have a camp and pick the best players from that camp as much as he can.   I do not think he will go into camp with certain players on the bubble.

Danny looking for a trade to get something for Jones .

He figures somebody is trying to wait him out on a few deals ....trying to get a bargain.....probably has inside info on teams looking at few of Bostons guys ...seeing if they step in and snag a deal.

I don't see that happening. Young is still the youngest player on the roster. Jones has had 3 years in the league and hasn't done much except get hurt. Jerekbo will probably be traded before Young is.

If you release a player with a guaranteed contract, what happens. You have to pay the whole contract anyway but open up a spot?

Yeah. I think if someone else picks up that player, they come off your books (or the amount that the other teams pays them is deducted from the amount you have to pay) but the player still counts against your cap and everything. If my memory is correct.

It seems like a safe bet that Zoran Dragic is going to be cut. There isn't a palce for him on the roster and he's unlikely to play his way in. This is why the C's got some money out of Miami in the trade.

We can assume that the rookies and newly signed players are staying. I think we can also cross off Bradley, Smart, Sullinger, Thomas, Turner, Zeller, Olynyk from the list of possible cuts given how involved they were last season. James Young is almost certainly safe, if only because he hasn't been given his chance yet. All of the work put in by the staff to get him ready for the NBA would have been for nothing if he doesn't even get an opportunity to play. David Lee and his giant contract are unlikely to be cut, even if it turned out he was completely washed up (which no one thinks is the case). By process of elimination (and because, like Dragic, the C's got some money from OKC in the trade that brought him here) that leaves Perry Jones as the last man standing if a cut needs to happen.

All that said, I'd be really surprised if another trade doesn't happen before opening day and I really hope it does because I have high hopes the Brad can harness some of PJ3's talent.

I have no freakin' clue.  We are extremely deep 10-17.  We're just not that good 1-9.   :P
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Dragic is as good as gone. PJIII is likely the next to go, though if Sully shows up to camp looking like a Christmas ham I could see him being a surprise cut.

Nah, he'd never be cut. He's a trade possibility but they'd never outright cut him.

i have a hard time seeing PJ3 cut. I mean, they just introduced him. It sounds like he's here to stay. Maybe Mickey will be cut.

PJlll and Dragic will be cut if no trades. But I am guessing that Dragic will be cut and we will trade another player, opening up a spot for PJlll.
CB Mock Deadline - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich
Picks - 2018 CHA 1st (Lotto protected), none out

are you honestly suggesting that ainge will cut a player who is on a rookie contract and put up per 36 numbers of 17.7 pts/g, 10.1 rbs/g, and 3.1 assists/g?

working out SOME sort of trade would occur first.

They may move someone else (Hello there, ET!) to make room for PJIII to stay, but there's no way they'll cut Mickey just to keep PJ3. They just gave Mickey the largest contract EVER given to a 2nd round pick, including two years guaranteed. I'd say they dump Sully for a bag of chips before they just cut Mickey.
