Turner and Sullinger for Morris.

Trim our roster and log jam down, phx also rids themselves of a problem they created. Everybody wins.

Tough call. He's still a young guy with a lot of talent (the better of the twins) but he does seem like a bit of trouble. If I remember right, he and his brother are awaiting trial for an off court assault charge. Not sure if that's a road the Celtics want to go down, unless the price is really good and they'd be able to cut ties without losing much.

I mean Larry Bird started a bar fight with a bouncer but I've never heard anyone say that the Celtics should have cut ties him because of it.

Then again Markieff Morris is unlikely to be the second best token white guy in Celtics history so he's definitely not getting as much leeway as Bird would. ;)

That´s a weak joke.

Even as a joke that´s weak.

-Walton
-Bird
-Everyone else.

Come at me.

(The bar fight thing is true, though. If you're as talented as Bird was, I think most people have a lot more leeway for stuff like that than if you're just on the level of a Morris twin).

I thought Hippy Walton was your second best?

Walton's my second favorite Celtic ever (first is Parish), making him my favorite token white guy on the Celtics  -- an allusion to the other day when someone called me out for saying KO was our token white guy. For the record, KO ranks very low on my favorite token white guy on the Celtics list.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/238994/Markieff-Morris-Requests-Trade-From-Suns

Quote
Markieff Morris said he is determined to be traded by the Phoenix Suns.

“One thing for sure, I am not going to be there,” Morris said Tuesday.

"If you want to put that out there, you can put that out. I don’t give a [freak]. I am not going to be there at all. That’s just what it is."

Morris signed a four-year, $32 million extension in 2014. The Suns traded Marcus Morris this offseason and could suspend Markieff if he refuses to play.

“I’ve got to show up. No question.” said Markieff Morris, who is scheduled to make $8 million this season. “You can’t do that. I will be a professional. Don’t get me wrong.

“But it won’t get that far. … I’m going to be out before then, should be."

This rumor isn't going away. If we do make the trade I think a Sullinger swap makes sense for both sides. Hopefully for Jared, Phoenix's medical staff would he able to keep him healthy.

Not really too concerned with Morris feeling cheated by Phoenix. He did take less than market value to play with his brother, never thought it really made much sense being how -unsurpisingly- similar their games are.

No thank you.

Him and his brother both seem like immature, entitled, codependent, whiny brats. Add in the assault charges against them... Just, no.

And for everyone saying Markieff took a below market extension, wasn't it widely reported at the time that the Suns decided to commit the $52m to them and it was their decision how to divide it?
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Their mindset is that if they were going to be split up any ways the 2 of them would have commanded more than $52 combined. The Suns sold them on taking less to stay together then broke them apart after 1 season.

Imo Marcus would have had trouble getting paid as much as he did on the Open Market but Markieff definitely would have been paid more.

after those comments, the assault charges, and the immaturity displayed by refusing to play with his brother, coupled with the fact that he is a bit of a tweener and certainly not a franchise changing player means he probably has negative value.

Id be happy to take a flier on the guy, but how do you get his contract without giving up real value?

The best idea Ive seen would be as a part of a fairly large trade which nets us either Len or Bledsoe.

This way we could use Markieff as a chip in our corner.

maybe Markief and Blesoe for Bradley and like Jerebko then transition Smart to the fulltime 2?

just spitballing.

Ultimately I dont think there is a lot of hope for a deal. It is just a bad fit.

edit: the money wouldnt work on that trade the whole situation is tough

Turner and Sullinger for Markieff.  I'd do it happily.

Not worried about the personality stuff.  It's whatever.  Sounds to me like the Suns made some half-promises to him that they didn't keep.

Markieff's a quality player and I think Stevens could get plenty of value out of him.  He's a better version of Jerebko.

As others have mentioned the immaturity and codependency on his brother is alarming. Rather stay away from Markieff.

Really?  If you compare their per 36 minute stats from last year, Sully averaged 17.7 points and 10.1 rebounds versus 17.5 and 7.1 for Markieff.  Sully is clearly the better rebounder, and their shooting range stats are practically identical.  Plus Sully is three years younger and has more upside.  I would take Jared Sullinger and his weight issues over Markieff Morris and his mental issues any day of the week.
