Then why don't you chuckle puppies chime in on what the Jazz would want for him to help them this year.

Nothing that requires giving up Exum. This idea that they're trying to win now is based on absolutely nothing. They're not trying to win now any more so than Milwaukee is just because they made the playoffs last season. They're trending upwards, but there is absolutely nothing you can point to as far as Utah's front office moves that indicates that they're shifting gears towards immediately trying to contend now.

Believe it or not, not every team is the Nets or the Kings and looking for a "get rich quickly" scheme.

I would be out of my mind not to make that trade. Thats why Utah would never do it.

i might do it for Exum and a protected First, but im not giving up on Young potentially improving his value this year only to get Exum who is now worth less injured. plus we really dont need another combo guard.

Marcus Smart.  And some picks.

Dante Exum could get a leg amputated above the knee and still be better prospect than James Young.

Young>>>> Injured Exum. Too many grass is greener people on here. Exum was terrible last year and should have been full DL year like Young was. After an ACL injury (if true) why would any one gamble on Exum. Exum's entire potential has been based on size and speed combination at guard if he loses his speed he is toast as a elite prospect.

But what makes you think he won't come back with the same speed and quickness that he had?

A lot of players have went on to tear their ACL's only to come back as good as they have been. Nerlens Noel doesn't seem to have lost his athletic ability. Shumpert seemed to be physically okay. Lou Williams won 6th man 2 years after tearing his. Danilo Galllinari put good numbers when he came back. Heck, even Derrick Rose still looks explosive.

Exum's potential still outweighs James Young and a 2nd rounder, maybe even two or three, regardless of the injury. ACL tears are not career threatening anymore. Exum's last year, his rookie year mind you, when he was 19 BTW, wasn't a good sight, but you can see flashes of brilliance, especially on defense. Utah is not going to give up on Exum just by having one not so good rookie year and an ACL tear. Especially not for that weak package.

Understand that Utah is trying to move Trey Burke on draft day. That's how they value Dante Exum moving forward.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge / Shareef Abdur-Raheem / Ben Simmons
C: Jermaine O'neal / Ben Wallace

What makes me think he won't come back? How about dealing with an ACL myself and becoming faster through rehabilitation(technique)  but losing explosion (vertical). No one is the same after an ACL even AP said he lost his cuts but gained staight line. It alters you physically.

my experience is dated from pre arthoscopic surgery-cave man days and i look like i got bit by a great white
no athlete has been able to match my scar, its like my badge of courage
but there was a period of depression and lack of confidence and rehab was a joke
straight line and defence ok but pivoting and cuts and going airbourne-i was finished
-a risky trade considering his past year on top of missing this one-
imagine marcus guarding him after losing this season to injury-what a psych job and battering this kid would take

Hahah would you rather drink Dom Perignon or battery acid?

this made me laugh, TP
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

So for the Jazz to give up their prized 4th round pick, they'd ask for at least:
2016 Celtics pick
2016 Brooklyn pick
James Young
Terry Rozier

That's the very least.
They don't want Olynyk or Sully because they're already in their 3rd and 4th year of deals. Same with Zeller. They might want Evan Turner but it's unlikely because he just takes minutes from developing players.
They'd probably ask for Hunter instead of James Young.

Guy has barely played NBA yet and he was a 4th pick.
Yes he tore his ACL, but that doesn't mean Utah will just dump him for our scraps.

A couple of things.

(1) Just because they ask for it doesn't mean they'll get it. No one is giving up 4 top 20 picks for Exum, who is injured and hasn't produced on the court yet.

(2) Both Sullinger and Olynyk have value. They're still young, in their rookie contracts and have not even reached RFA status yet. That Sully is a RFA after this season in no way is a detriment to his trade value because RFAs simply don't change teams very often because the team still has all the power. However, it would be foolish of Danny to trade Sullinger right now when his stock is low. It would be better to see if his time with John Lucas this offseason pays off on the court before moving him.

---

Now with that said, we both agree the OPs offer is laughable. It would take Rozier, Brooklyn's first and probably Olynyk to start the discussion - even IF Utah wanted to trade him which I doubt they do. Why do they want to sell low?

But that's also not that relevant. The Cs are already loaded in the back court. Smart. Bradley. IT. Rozier. Hunter. Young. 5 of those 6 guys are 25 or younger. 4 of the 6 have one season or less NBA experience. Trading for yet another PG/SG doesn't make any sense because the team already has so many options. It will take this entire season - and perhaps even next season - to sort through the back court options. Until that time, there's no use in making a trade unless it's an absolute blockbuster because the team has no idea what they already have.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

hardly.  Smart was taken one pick later and has looked like the better player by far in the NBA and Summer League.  And that was BEFORE Exum wrecked his knee and won't play for a year (at least)

if it was Smart, it'd better be picks coming from Utah.

I don't think they'd take Young and a late first unless Exum was really messed up and projected to miss a good chunk of his 3rd year under the rookie deal as well.
