Carmelo....this year.

I'm of the belief that Melo is on the way out of New York, but I wouldn't call him washed up.

I wouldn't call Lee a former star—a former All-Star, but not a player on the level of Wilkins or Payton.

Besides that, I don't think he's washed up.

I certainly hope Danny doesn't give us another Wilkins situation; in fact, I can't see him doing that.

We have enough assets if phil jackson is willing

But i'm concerned that his ego will prevent him from conceding a legit rebuild
I trust Danny Ainge

The Celtics did have three former All-Stars on the roster last season. (not at the same time)

Let's make it even more fun. Which former All-Star and current player would represent the most depressing acquisition?

I think for me it's Joe Johnson. It just works on so many levels...he's overpaid, likely to evaporate completely as a player...and we would end up having traded him away once just as he was getting good, only to re-acquire him as he began to suck again. The clincher would be sending back enough talent to ruin the BKN picks we own.

Well, if they WERE to acquire Joe Johnson, we wouldn't be sending anything meaningful out in return.  But that's the kind of trade I could see Danny making, absorbing some salary on a washed-out player, in exchange for a protected 1st-rounder and creating a trade exception.

Throw hate at me ...I can handle it  ;D

I wish we'd kept Prince .   Loved what stability he brought to the youth off the bench .

He was part of the turn a round where Celtics went from Lottery certainty to kinda expecting to win a few games.

I second the prince notion. And to make it worse he was upset that we traded him and lived it in Boston. How much money would it have taken to keep him though.

He was fun to watch during his short time in green. That was one of those occasions where I rued Ainge's treating of players as interchangeable commodities.

If we'd drafted well over the past 3 years and actually had a core in place, Joe Johnson would be the perfect guy to help take us to that next step, imo, but that's not where we are at the moment.  Ugh.  How is he 'likely to evaporate completely as a player?'  He's a sf now, yes, but his offensive versatility, quick hands, great passing ability, and superb handle means that his game, much like Pierce's, will age very well, and perhaps even better than Paul's, quite honestly.  Plus, his contract would come off the books after this year, anyway, giving us more flexibility, so it could have been a win-win, and I think it would have been cool to see him finish his career in the city that should have been his home over the past 14 seasons.

Now, having said all of that, if we're looking for a washed-up star, Carlos Boozer certainly fits the criteria, imo, lol ;D. The guy is still a free agent in August, haha ;D. Wow.

I wonder if Keith Van Horn still under contract by someone  ;D

That guy has to have the record for the longest time under contract after he played his last game.
Yup
