On monday  it is expected that the celtics announce that they have made the crowder signing and david lee trade official. I think that we will make david lee our starting pf. Honestly he will be the best offensive option in our starting lineup. I believe that isaiah will stay as our 6th man. With david lee at starting pf he will only operate in the paint/ that means we will need a our sf to have a good long 3 pointer. jonas jerebko has had a great three pointer with the celtics.  he plays above average defense. Jake crowder needs a consistent 3 point shot our else I don't think he can win a starting sf spot.

Stevens himself has said jerebko can play the 3 and I think that position is the one everyone is fighting for.

Jerebko only played spot minutes last year as an energy guy so I doubt he will be starting sf this season.

I don't think there is anyway he's our starting small forward.  Starting line I think would be as follows.

Center - Amir Johnson
Power Forward - Jared Sullinger
Small Forward - Jae Crowder or Evan Turner
Shooting Guard - Avery Bradley
Point Guard - Marcus Smart

Second Squad
Center - Tyler Zeller or Kelly Olynyk
Power Forward - David Lee
Small Forward - Jae Crowder if not starting or Jonas Jerebko, Perry Jones if stays on the team.
Shooting Guard - Evan Turner if not starting or Terry Rozier or R.J. Hunter or James Young
Point Guard - Isaiah Thomas

Definitely very bold. I'm gonna go out on a limb with you, though, and open myself up to the torture we're both about to endure.

Beast is my favorite player on the team, hence why I like Jerebko's grit a lot as well (if you believe in real plus-minus, his DRPM is higher than Crowder's by a pretty significant margin). Add onto that he is referred to as "The Swedish Eagle" in the title of a youtube highlight mix. Hard to not hang onto that, personally.

I didn't understand why he didn't see more PT last year, either.  But there has to be a reason he has a career avg (5 years) of 20 mpg.

That said, I wanted to see him get more minutes last year, and hope to this year. He does a lot of things well - makes our D even more beastly than it already is, rebounds, and stretches the floor as well as KO, and better than Sully.

Gut says he's screwed, though, unless the logjam at the 4 is addressed or ET is shipped. I wouldn't be surprised to see ET starting at the 3 and being a primary ball-handler again, but hope that isn't the case & Smart is handed the keys instead. Lee has the offensive potential to make ET less necessary.

If Crowder can't beat out Jerebko I will have to lower my expectations big time. I like JJ, I bet he does start some gams but due to injuries.

I like what I saw from Jerebko this past season.  On a per minute basis, he was very productive for the Celtics.

On the other hand, I think most of his advantages are at the 4 or 5.

Even bolder, by the end of the all star break, Perry Jones will be the starting SF.

Don't mean to be disrespectful, but how is that bold?

I think it is bold, since I am predicting that he gets waived in preseason if there are no further trades.

I've very seriously considered this possibility too.

My main concern with our roster right now is thee point shooting.

For all intents and purposes Jerebko is the only guy on our team who can hit a three from the SF spot with any type of consistency, and as a bonus he is a versatile inside/outside defender who can cover three positions at a squeeze.

Stevens loves guys who can spead the floor, and he loves guys who are versatile defensively, so unless Crowder can develop into a legitimate three point threat (i.e. at least 34% on two attempts per game) it's really not hard to envision Jerebko taking over that starting SF spot.

Crowder's biggest strengths are defense and hustle, and Jerebko does both of those just as well as Crowder does, so I'm pretty confident JJ will be challenging Crowder for that starting spot all season long.  If Crowder is going to keep it, he's going to have to earn it.

Then there is the X-Factor, RJ Hunter.  He's a rookie so I doubt he'll get a lot of minutes, but we all know he is a personal favorite of Brad Stevens - if he surprises people early with his play and work ethic, and if he shoots as well as he his reputation suggests, he could overtake all of those guys by the all-Star break.

Ironically, Hunter probably is the most all-round talent we have at that wing position since he can shoot the three, score, pass, rebound and defend at a nice level.  Also because he's a high IQ and high effort player, which will immediately makes him a coach favorite.

If Crowder can't beat out Jerebko I will have to lower my expectations big time. I like JJ, I bet he does start some gams but due to injuries.

Here's hoping that by the end of the all-star break, we have a starting SF that isn't on this team right now.

This will sound crazy, and I understand (flame away)... but I've read there's a mutual interest between the Cs and Pete Sampras as a starting 3.

I bet Serena could make some noise at the 3.
