I think it will prolly be Smart, Bradley, Crowder, Lee, and Johnson, but I wouldn't mind having this depth chart out there:

PG: IT, Rozier
SG: Smart, Bradley
SF: Crowder, Turner
PF: Lee, Sully/KO
C: Johnson, Zeller

Bingo...TP.

I think Lee will start, after all--it's THE reason for him being traded from the Warriors.

No, the reason is that it saved the Warriors $15-20 million in luxury taxes and salaries.

That said, it's unlikely he'll be buried on the bench here like Wallace, since the C's are paying an extra $5 million to him than Wallace.  I'd expect 20-25 minutes on average, but with the current depth an array of skillsets, I expect a lot of game-to-game variations in rotations depending on matchups.

Maybe, but I thought The Warriors promised to send him to a team, where he would get big minutes, to revive his career.

As I said, that the C's are willing to pay $5 million more to Lee than they're paying to Wallace indicate they think he can contribute more than Wallace on the court.  But big minutes are no guarantee for any player this year -- I'm fairly sure the number of suitors for David Lee's $15.5 million contract were pretty low.  But for the C's, who are trading a $10.1 million guy who was glued to the bench, the cost is only $5.4 million.  Expect him to play about as much as an MLE level big.

I think the starting lineups we see in late October and late February will be very different. Given the current roster:

Smart
Bradley
Turner
Sullinger
Johnson

Bench: IT, Crowder, Lee, Olynyk/Zeller

C's seem intent on making Smart the PG (for now at least). Johnson at C. Bradley, Turner, and Sullinger will be showcased at the beginning of the season to try to build their trade value. Gonna be real interesting to see how CBS spreads the minutes around, especially at the 4-5 spots, unless injuries happen. I don't see enough minutes for Sully/Amir/Lee/Zeller/Olynyk, not to mention Crowder/Jerebko.

Smart/IT/Rozier
AB/Hunter/Young
Turner/Crowder/Jerekbo
AJ/Sully/Lee
Zeller/KO/Mickey

Smart is a PG.

How long will it take before the Celtics realize the Smart is not a point guard?

Marcus smart not a point guard ??  you couldn't be more wrong. Marcus Smart was starting point guard and captain of the Youth national team the past two years.  Now if Jerry Colangelo calls him USA basketball PG of the future and the Celtics call him their PG of the future then what do you know that they dont.

Without looking at any data, here's my gut feel:

PG: Smart
SG: Bradley
SF: Turner
PF: Crowder
C: Amir

We'd be a little small but I really think a Turner/Crowder combo as starting forwards could work. Center position is where it seems to be a bit of a toss up but I'm going with Amir since he's our offseason's "premiere" pickup.

Players off the bench (in order):
6-IT (to spell either Smart or Bradley)
7-Olynyk (to spell any member of our frontcourt)
8-Lee
9-Jerebko
10-Zeller
11-Sully
12-Rozier
13-Hunter
14-Young
15-Mickey

I really think Bradley/Smart/IT will all get heavy minutes, although a guy like Rozier or Hunter could get a surprising increase in minutes should one of them go down.

It's up to the players. Only the 1 and 2 seem set.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I think Sully starts at PF with Amir at C.

I think Sully is going to have a breakout year.
Lee, Olynyk, Zeller, Amir all competing for big man minutes and Sully in a contract year after losing some serious weight.

Sully finally gets to play next to a defensive big man-   something he's been waiting for since KG left.
I think Lee gets Brandon Bass minutes off the bench.

Smart
Bradley
Crowdah
Sully
Amir J

IT
Turner
Lee
Zeller
Jerebko
Olynyk

rookies+ Young

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Smart, Bradley, Johnson, (Lee/Sullinger), Turner is the best I can reduce it to. See arguments for both Lee and Sully to start. I was tempted to go Crowder over Turner but know how well Turner worked in the CBS system and feel he could start.

I say all this with no real confidence beyond Smart, Bradley and Johnson. Can't see trades for more guards and Johnson is here to start.

Hardly to expect anything but PG-Smart and C-Amir. Turner, Olynyk, Sully, some of them, if not all, will be traded soon. I'm pretty sure.
On the other hand, we have pretty strong bench with Rozier, IT, Hunter, Zelelr, Jerebko, Mickey and who knows who else... ;)

C- Johnson
PF- Lee
SF- Crowder
SG- Bradley
PG- Smart

Or will Brad go with Zeller, Sully and Turner to start ?

That's the lineup I want but I wouldn't mind Zeller starting and having Amir come in after 5-6 minutes.

Either way having Turner and both KO and Sully are creating a logjam at the 1/2/3 and 4/5 respectfully.

Smart, IT, Rozier
AB, Hunter, Young
Crowder, Jerebko
Lee, KO/Sully
Johnson, Zeller, Mickey
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.
