he was only set to make like 11.5 million this year, so they gave him a big raise this year.  So it really is like 34 million in new money.

yes, thats exaclty what it is but at this point in the offseason having an extra 2.5 mil doesnt help Denver that much whereas having an extra 2.5 mil next year or the year after could be the difference between making a big signing and not making one.

Actually it's worse. A full trade kicker as reported adds 15% per year to salary and takes the $31.6 for the final 2 years to $36.3 M or $18M+.  My quick reading of the CBA appears to support adding the $2.5 bump to the guaranteed amount with another 15% on top of that for 2015-16 too, but in any case, I stand 100% behind my Yuck rating.
