Nice to hear this, he seemed very confident I hope it will transfer it onto the court like in the last two summer league games. I was pretty surprised by this because I never expected Durant to mentor James but I remembered that they both signed under ROCNATION.

I think that Durant can be a very good mentor to James and I hope he learns a lot with this experience.

Great news.  Young needs all the help he can get!  Right now he is on the fringe of the roster on the verge of returning to the Red Claws.  But if he could just grow his court awareness and game so he could take advantage of his athleticism and skill... He could at the very least be the next Gerald Green for us.

People love ragging on player prospects being 'too old' and having no potential left.  But when it comes to the youngest player on the roster people have 'zero patience' for James Young.  Talk about hypocritical?

Patience is the key word to keep in mind with Young.

Why not mentor the whole team. Let Durant get acclimated with them for next year.  ;D

I hope Durant stays healthy this year. He's one of my favorite players that don't play on the Celtics. I think it's a good thing for James Young to get this opportunity. Hopefully he takes the most out of it that he possibly can.

James Young is still the youngest player on the team, so he's still got a few years before he really needs to start realizing his potential to the fullest extent. He has improved quite a bit, so hopefully he can continue the positive trend.

Yeah, unless durant is coming, this is a nonstory.  Whatever.

It'll be a nice opportunity for Young, but I doubt it will do him much good. At this point, he has to work on the mental aspects of the game and IMO that's something that will either click for him eventually or will be what perennially holds him back.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

It might make him a better rebounder while he rebounds for Durant.  ;D

How is Young working with Durant not news. Well it's not huge news, but it's nice to know that he's working on his game with the best scorer in the NBA.

If the modern NBA says anything, having players with the same agent as the best player in the league is a good thing (see Dallas with Dan Fegan, Milwaukee with Jason Kidds agent, Cleveland with Klutch Sports).
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

Why do I somehow envision Durant seeing Young as a good sparring partner--for the first week he has his foot out of a cast?

I don't in the least fault Young for being excited about the opportunity, but there's some kind of magical thinking that comes through too, that he's somehow going to become a much better player for the experience.

Dion Waiters also "mini camp trains" with Durant. So don't mind people's lack of enthusiasm.
