I'd even take it a step further and say to not only beware of summer league performances, but even small stretches of NBA ball where young players shine. Having been around this board and others for nearly 20 years, I can't even keep track of the number of prospects we've had that had a handful of good games and immediately start to draw ridiculous comparisons and expectations. I remember when Brandon Hunter was the next Charles Barkley/Paul Silas, J.R. Bremer the next Dennis Johnson, and Jiri Welsh was the next John Havlicek. I also remember when half the board lost their minds to see Ryan Gomes go in the Garnett trade only to see him never amount to anything.
And all of those players accomplished more than any of our youngsters have so far in the summer league.
I hope all our prospects pan out, but let's also not get carried away yet.
