I know that a lot of guys here like to bash him, especially when it comes to trade rumors, but I must say the article below he wrote about Danny's strategy is a good read, and makes a lot of sense.

I like where we're going now.  After the draft? Not so much.  But now we have a roster full of young hungry talent mixed with some tough veteran basketball players and we have that all across the board.  Not sure there's any team out there that has the interchangeability options like we do.  Avery goes down... Stick in smart... Lee goes down, stick in ko, etc. I also like giving these guys opportunities to step up and be what they can be.  Stevens is the right guy to lead this and should make for another fun season to watch.

For Sherrod, a thread entitled "Decent Article by Sherrod Blakely" on CelticsBlog is the equivalent of winning a Pulitzer for a lot of other reporters.  He's on top of the mountain.

Oh, so I say [dang] and it gets censored but you can use that type of profanity in the thread's title and nothing happens? ;D

I think most of us came up with that conclusion all on our own, silly Sherrod. ;)

This was my exact reaction.

An article by Sherrod being called "decent" is borderline astonishing to me.

Now, actually looking at the article, it occurs to me that all of the names that Sherrod talks about -- Middleton, Carroll, Draymond -- are guys who went later in the draft (or not at all) because of limited physical tools and offensive skillsets.  All three are valuable players.  Draymond is a borderline star.

But I also think you could argue that each of those guys benefited greatly from finding the right circumstances and system that allowed them to stand out.  I wonder if we can expect a breakout like that on the Celtics, given Stevens' egalitarian system and the lack of elite offensive threats to draw attention.

It'd be a lot easier to read this article if Sherrod didnt hit the enter button after every sentence and start a new paragraph

I don't know if I had preconceived notions because of the threads title but I didn't think this was a very good article personally.

I'm not sure what this even means:

Eventually, who is on the roster won’t matter.

It’s whether those players can do more than just perform, but deliver in a way that leads to wins.

I think that's preferable to having really, really long paragraphs though with no breaks.

But you can tell Sherrod isn't a print media guy.  He's focused entirely on generating content for an Internet audience.  Short, quotable snippets.  He's not concerned with crafting good writing, just providing material that might start a conversation or get regurgitated elsewhere.

Can someone estimate Sherrod Blakely's salary with some rigor?
I would like to know how much CSNNE is paying this guy to write the most obvious things in the world of professional basketball.

Maybe Ainge is getting Perry Jones to tell Durant how great it is here?

Thanks for the link. TP.

It may seem obvious to some that part of Danny's strategy is to look for a diamond in the rough, but I think it's something a lot of us forget about (myself included) because the general narrative on CB and elsewhere is "What star can we get by trading these young players?" In other words, these youngsters are merely a means to an end, not an end in and of themselves. But one (or more) of them could be. Maybe not. Maybe even "probably not."

But maybe so. The last Boston draft pick who turned into a stud for Boston was Paul Pierce 17 years ago, and the last Boston pick who turned out pretty well for anyone was Al Jefferson 11 years ago, so I suppose Boston's "due" for another good pick anytime now (maybe even one of the current guys).

IMO Sherrod's article was meant for the average Celtic fan, the guy that checks the sports section in the morning paper, with his coffee and sometimes casually surfs the net looking for, chit chat for around the water cooler.

To the Celtic "Nuts" of this forum, (and you know who you are) yes, the article was obvious. He outlined what one possible out come could be with this current roster.

The steps he failed to take with this article would require taking a step further out on the branch.

TP for the research.
