When is the day that Babb's contract become guaranteed? I can't find anything about it online, I might be looking in the wrong places however.

Can't find it, either. Saltlover will be able to tell you to the minute, though.

What are you wondering about re: his contract, more broadly?

There's no deadline, he falls into the January date where all non-guarantees become guaranteed (I would assume that some payments will have to be made until then if he's still on the roster, which I doubt). Anyways, let's just say that the deadline will be towards the start of the season when rosters need to be finalized, since that will be the de facto date.

I've never seen it reported anywhere, but his prior time with the Celtics the second season was completely non-guaranteed.  This means he could be waived any time up until the beginning of the season with the team owing him nothing.  From that point on it begins prorating, until January 10th, when all full-season contracts become guaranteed per the CBA.

Given when he was signed it was pretty much mentioned that he was willing to be used in trades this summer in exchange for the $48k he got for his 10 days on the roster (as well as service time), I would be shocked if this time it were any different.

Thanks for the info guys! Reason I asked is I thought Babb had the same deadline as Pressey and that we guaranteed his contract yesterday. So glad that I was wrong about that. Would of went crazy with the thought of Babb on the final roster.

I have been wondering the same thing for a different reason. I am wondering WHEN the Lee deal is finalized and obviously Babb must be part of it. And I assume that Golden State will immediately waive Babb.  I realize DA is holding out to try to do something else before the Lee deal is finalized so I was kind of hoping I know when this date is because I am anxious to find out what the final roster will be and if it includes Gallo or someone else.

Does it mean they have until the end of FA to do it (after signing Crowder we won't have cap space anymore) ?

Pretty much. More dependent on roster space availability once rosters needs to be finalized than anything else.

Also, I'd imagine that this transaction will be attempted prior to signing Crowder, but at some point depending on how our cap space keeps diminishing it might end up being irrelevant.

The way I understand it and it's possible I am wrong is that...the Celtics haven't finalized the Lee deal or signed Crowder because they want to use the available cap money for another deal. If they finalize the aforementioned deals/signing first, it would not allow them to use this money for anything significant so they need to make a deal/signing first and then follow-up with the other two. I am just wondering how long can he wait for this. I mean theoretically another team could steal Lee away from Golden State with a better offer if we don't eventually finalize it.

I thought we needed cap space to make up for salary difference in the Lee trade.

I think we have a verbal agreement for the Lee trade. That's different from FA with the moratorium.

I hope you are right but how does that explain during an interview at summer league during the last game he said he couldn't comment on Lee. If it's a done deal (verbal) then why couldn't he comment? It sounds like anyone could withdraw until it is finalized.

I have no idea. Ainge said according the nba rules, he's not allow to talk about a player that has not sign yet.
