Somewhere between 31-44 most likely. Wonder if they sent enough cash to pay him off too. Just using our cap to cut him and save OKC tax is my bet.

The Celtics basically bought another second round pick.  I think it is highly likely that the Celtics kick the tires on Jones during preseason but ultimately decide to eat his contract to create a roster spot for Jordan Mickey or Jonathan Holmes.

PJ3 might be the third-most important asset received in this deal, behind the pick and the cash.

He's very athletic and only 23.  Sounds good.  As far as the roster size, I don't think we can judge this in a vacuum.  There will be other moves this summer, maybe this week.  And if not, we bought a 2nd round pick, that was acquiring with cap space from simple cap maneuvering, i.e. not signing Crowder yet/Lee trade agreed but not finalized. 

Ainge/Zarren always sweatin' it, trying to be ultra-efficient with their handling of the cap, and squeeze out assets where they can.  Not every front office does this.  For this, I give them tremendous credit.

Jones is who I wanted us to pick with the Fab melo pick. That we got a second, PJ 3 and cash for our cap space is good.

Not sure he will make the roster unless we make a trade to deal multiple players for one better player.

I really like this move as a high upside flyer.

You maneuvered around the cap and landed Jones plus a free 2nd round pick.  You took advantage of the situation at hand.  It's a solid move.  A no brainer really.  Definitely not pointless.
