Denver Nuggets guard Ty Lawson was arrested for suspicion driving under the influence of alcohol in Los Angeles, reports TMZ.com.

According to the report. Lawson was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol for speeding on the 101 Freeway on Tuesday morning, after leaving a Hollywood nightclub.

He was arrested at 2:29 a.m. and booked at the L.A. County Jail an hour later with his bond set at $5,000, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department. The L.A. Sheriff's Department did not list a charge for Lawson, but indicated the charge is a misdemeanor.

Lawson was also arrested for DUI in January after Denver, Colorado police pulled him over after observing him going 60 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Lawson just completed his sixth season in the NBA, all of which have been in Denver.

He led the team in both points (15.2) and assists (9.6) per game this season and has been the subject of recent trade rumors.

At the time of his first arrest, the Nuggets were reportedly trying to deal Lawson, and as former head coach Brian Shaw wanted to replace Lawson with Indiana Pacers guard George Hill.

According to SI.com’s Chris Mannix, Sacramento Kings head coach George Karl is interested in a possible reunion with Lawson. Karl coached Lawson for four seasons in Denver, from 2009–13, making a playoff appearance in each season.

Lawson has two years remaining on a four- year, $48 million deal he signed in 2012. He set to make $12.4 million next season.[/quote}

He gets this DUI right after Chauncey Billups says that the Nuggets should trade Lawson because he's not a leader.

Yes. I think so. I mean, well, one, Ty, he has not demonstrated what you want from the leader of your team and a guy who they've handed the keys to. He's not demonstrated the kind of leadership that you want. And you have a young kid named [Emmanuel] Mudiay coming in who I think has a chance to be a star in this league. Right now the best player on the team is Ty Lawson. As a young player in the league, you come in 19-20 years old, you oftentimes try to emulate some of the actions on the floor and off the floor of the best player because that's one day what you want to be. So I think just from the standpoint of the welfare of Mudiay and the well-being and the growth of Mudiay, you have to get Ty Lawson and you have to move him along.

Trade Bradley for him. Then move Smart for Noel/Okafor

A second DUI is obviously bad, however why I wouldn't trade for him is fit.

IMO for this team to develop to its full potential we need Smart to be the starting ball handler. Thomas fits as a ball handler off the bench, Lawson would not fit as well off the bench.

Hopefully they deal him to another team and we can join in on the deal to get Gallinari (for a reasonable price)

Can this finally put an end to all of the Ty Lawson talk?

For the life of me, I've never understood the obsession that so many people have on this blog with Ty Lawson.  He's a good player, but he's another guard, which this team has plenty of, and he's basically a carbon copy of Isaiah Thomas.  Now add on the fact that he clearly seems to be a knucklehead with a drinking problem, there's no reason for the Celtics to give up anything for this guy.

Hopefully this thread closes any book on Ty Lawson to the Cs
