Looks like he wanted to start and Zeller starts over him if he is with C's. So Indy is best fit.

Why should Zeller automatically get to start over Hill?

At the very least let the guys battle it out for the starting position in training camp.

because he's a better player than Hill.
Amir Johnson is better.
So is David Lee.
Sullinger is better and Olynyk is arguably better.
No need for this scrub.

Sully, Johnson, Lee and Olynyk = All power forwards.

Zeller is not better than Hill.

At the very least they're equally talented.

I haven't seen enough of Hill to definitely say he's better than Zeller, but Zeller is not aggressive on defense or rebounding.
Zeller is easily better than Hill.

Pretty funny that some people are mad that the C's didn't sign a guy who is on par with Zeller.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

I don't like one year deals, and I think Danny Ainge doesn't either. From a value standpoint it doesn't offer much unless you're a legit contender.

???

What about the Amir Johnson deal?

You mean the 2-year deal (second year non-guaranteed which is actually a valuable asset to have), that Amir Johnson deal?

Yes that deal.

The deal where the 2nd year is non-guaranteed essentially making it a one year deal.

If that's such a big sticking point, then Ainge could've also offered that to Hill.

How do you know that Ainge didn't offer it?!?!?

I feel like I would've heard it reported.

Btw, thanks for the personal attack and insult. Much appreciated and will be remembered.

Hill would've been perfect for the Celts coming off a season where he averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds per game.

Of course he's not a guard, so why would Ainge show any interest?

God forbid he should sign a center.

Jackass!!

Q:  How do you know that Ainge didn't show interest?
A:  You don't.

I love these threads when posters act like they know everything.  ASSumptions.

So after your indignation over not signing Hill, you admit to being ignorant about Hill as a player?  This is more evidence that the trite cliche of the "knowledgeable Celtic fan" is tripe.

Well honestly he would have been a great add but as I said he wanted to start and so he chose Pacers. It's not a big deal that some are upset about not getting him. But when people don't realize Zeller is better that cracks me up.

Q Why didn't DA go after him?

A He would be by far the worst big we'd have according to the stats, particularly the advanced stats that Stevens seems to be big fan of. The following compares Hill, Johnson, KO, Lee, Sully, and Zeller. Hill's been in the NBA for 6 years and is 27, so the younger BOS players probably have more upside yet too.

Yeah..Jordan Hill really isn't that great.

I see him as a pretty one dimensional player.  He's basically a rebounding role player - reminds me a lot of Thomas Robinson.

Not a very good defensive player, not a very versatile offensive player.  Kind of guy who starts on a bad team and puts up a near double-double, but who is probably a 2nd or 3rd string player on any kind of competitive team.

Kinda like Troy Murphy but without the offense.

I do feel Zeller is AT LEAST on par with Hill (probably better) and certain has much higher upside.  I have to say that when it comes to our current roster, I think Hill would be the last guy in our PF rotation (not including Mickey, or course).  I can't see him getting minutes over Sully, Olynyk, Lee, Johnson or Zeller.  Or even Bass, really.

In fact, didn't the Lakers decline his player option, only to go and sign Bass in free agency?  I would imagine they feel they've upgraded with that move.

Because he is [dang] near Mikki Moore status, we don't need him.

gpap, bave you seen Hill play very much?  Dude would be the sixth best big on this team.  As others have said, the advanced stats show it.  I could care less if he put up 12/8 on a 60+ loss tank job.

He already admitted, after incessantly ranting and calling Ainge a "jackass" for not signing Hill, that he hasn't even watched enough of him to say definitively if he's a better player than Zeller. Which is ridiculously hilarious.

Jordan Hill is a great example of a player that we fixate on because he's not a Celtic, even though if he were a Celtic, we'd very quickly grow tired of him and see all his worst flaws.  We'd realize he's no better than the other role players we've already got.
