Cbs likes him. He is a good 14th,15th player to have on the team.

Danny im assuming is trying go make a trade to make room for Pressey and need to decongest the roster (pf/c especially) anyways

Or try to trade pressey to a team that wants him.

Worse case  (outside of just cutting him lose in two days) can you sign and send him to Europe?

I would've liked to have kept him because I think he gives the team something different at PG but I prefer Thorton, Holmes and Mickey to Pressey so things are against him. Ainge did too well with late draft picks. Pressey was unlucky.

Time to leave.

he isn't that important...he is a 3rd string pg. Use him as trade, cut him or whatever...I don't see him here long term.

small even for a pg, < 6 ft...cannot hit 3s...we can get better 3rd stringers

No. We have plenty of guards that have real potential. We don't need him riding the bench and we definitely don't need him taking minutes from Rozier.

But he is like "Rudy".   I have never seen him take a break at a game and he prob goes just as hard at practice. Lights are off and he is still shooting the ball.

Yes he shooting could be better. It needs to be better. But at least we have seen some improvements last season. He drove in for layups more.

He is a lifetime 3rd stringer but brings alot of energy. Good player to bring in to try to mount a comeback (down 20 pts). Tough at practice(make others better)

  • GOT IT!!!
He's trade filler that the C's were giving a chance. Drafting Rozier was the writing on the wall.

Barring a significant trade tomorrow, he'll be released Wednesday.  If a trade happens later in the summer and there is room on the roster, I'm sure he can be brought back.

If we can, I would like to keep Pressey. Only so many guys can run the O. Injuries happen. If there is an empty spot on the bench he can certainly have it.

Business speaking we have to pay him after a certain date.  As far as pg depth currently on roster
Smart, Thomas, rosier are ahead of him.  He's a one position player.  Doesn't look good for a great kid

Of course not. This doesn't require more than one second discussion.

No.

There is no way he's competing with our main guards (Smart, Thomas, Bradley) in terms of the ability to earn minutes right now, and when the rare opportunities do come up for another guard to play, I'd rather see Rozier and Hunter get those minutes - I believe they both have far higher upside than Pressey.

Love Pressey as a player, love his heart and love his 'Pure PG' passing and dribbling skills.  But at the end of the day those things only get you so far, and Pressey has two glaring weaknesses (lack of size on defense, complete inability to score) that make it hard to leave him on the court for long stretches...and hasn't shown he can overcome either of those.

He's had his chance and he's performed admirably, but I think it's time to give somebody else a chance.

keep?  hell no.  I like the kid but we have enough ball handlers at this point.  only reason to hold on to him until the roster is set is to use him as part of a deal -- enticement for the receiving team to shed some unguaranteed salary

Celtics need to give up one of Pressey or Babbs to make the David Lee trade work.  I'm guessing that it's Pressey.  We have a roster crunch and I don't feel we are going to want to give him guaranteed money.

Pressey is a really good backup player, but we have guys with higher upside who won't even make the roster such as Holmes and Thornton- they are going to the Redclaws.

In fact, I believe the reason Pressey was held out of summer league games is that his trade is imminent and we need him healthy for a trade to go through.
