AB has officially tossed his hat in the ring.

Quote
Bradley said he would welcome the honor of being named captain if asked.

“I would love to take that role,” he said. “I learned a lot from [Rajon] Rondo, KG [Kevin Garnett], and those guys. I learned to be a professional on and off the court.

“It’s my job to show my teammates that I should be the captain of this team. I should be the guy teaching them how to be professionals, how to go out there and perform at a high level so we can be successf

The conventional wisdom is that role will eventually be held by Smart, but, in the interim, Bradley wouldn't be the worst stopgap.

I like Bradley, but fresh off of his disappearance in the playoffs I'm not buying it.

Smart is built to be the Captain of this team. It might not happen this year, but he's definitely the best candidate for it.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Although new to the team David Lee should and will provide the leadership and will be named Captain.

He's not a true leader, just because he's been the Celtic the longest doesn't mean he can lead. I see more leadership out of Smart than AB right now, and I wouldn't give him the C as of now.

I think Lee or IT may take that role this year.

Also, Stevens said his first year he didn't have Captians, they made him make Rondo one to keep the child with in happy. So he may not give the C to anyone unless it's some one really desirving, like our last one (not Rondo).

I thought this was a trade idea for Pierce, he is still our captain in my mind.

Maybe, but not everyone is a born leader. If you recall, Pierce learnt how to lead after being named captain...

Same. That said, I'd be surprised if Bradley were even around long enough to enjoy potentially being named captain.

I'm all for giving the role to Smart. The more he is told he is a leader, the better he will be.

He should be traded for even thinking it.

Haha. This.

I don't like idea of the Celtics handing out that title casually or based on seniority. We don't need a captain right now.

Pierce first lead on the court, taking the big shots and willing wins in some games putting the team on his shoulders. It wasn't until he had to hit bottom and was a bit older to know how to lead the team on and off the court. AB hasn't put the team on his shoulders on many occasions. I've seen Smart do this with his D and hitting big shots in a short first season. He's doing it in Summer League.

There has to be a kind of respect for a player to lead, I'm not sure if AB has that, not yet. Maybe in a couple of years, but Smart is closer to it than he is.

Whoever asked him this question is kind of a jerk. Bradley isn't good enough to be a captain, he shouldn't even be asked this type of question. What is Bradley supposed to say?
