It's been months and I am dying for some green-goggled analysis of the NBA. Zach Lowe is okay for general stuff, and Jalen + Jacoby is okay for the personality, but I am really missing the homer podcasts. Does anyone know when Simmons can do stuff again? What Celtics-related media do you consume to help you ignore the Bill Simmons shaped hole in your life?

I live in Kentucky, so I do not have access to local sports radio. Everything here is UK Wildcats.

Also, I'm sure this thread is in the wrong place, but I wasn't able to find the correct catagory within which to post it. Here is a preemptive "thank you" to the moderator who sorts this thread out accordingly.
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Zach Lowe does fill a little of that hole. The Starters are entertaining and funny, especially The Drop.

But yeah, it's hard to not have the BS Report in my ears every week. Especially now that Simmons seems to be covering WWE stuff as well.

FOX or NBC just have to scoop him already.

If I remember right, his contract was going to be up in September so I'm assuming when he's officially out of his deal he'll pop up somewhere pretty fast.

I love Zach Lowe, I think he's the best analyst out there, but it was great having a Celtic homer as entertaining as Simmons. I wish there was a decent Celtic podcast. WEEI sometimes posts radio stuff on their web site but its really inconsistent.

Bill Simmons' twitter is still good. There's also the Celtics Beat podcast every Sunday, I listen to it on Stitcher.

I'm sure he would have been caught on camera congratulating himself on Boston picking RJ Hunter at #28

So why can't he do his BS report podcast? I thought that was something of his own on the side.

Bill Simmons appears on Celticsblog from time to time under an assumed name. If you pay close attention, you should be able to spot him.  No joke! :o

No worries, he'll be back in action before you know it!

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I don't think anyone in sports can do what Bill Simmons was able to do with ESPN. Maybe Dan Lebatard comes close but he rides that "Loud Sports Commentator" line a little too hard for me. Too many Skip Bayless moments, despite entertaining content.

You need a guy who is funny, up with pop culture, has enough pull to land high profile guests, and who likes the Celtics.

Nobody like that exists, so basically I'm just waiting for more Simmons come the fall. I loved the rumor that he and Jon Stewart were going to try to headline a premium service. If they can pull Woj over, its a wrap, take my money.
