  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Has looked good at summer league, had a bad game vs Philly but so did everyone. But the other games have been comforting to see his potential, even if it is a very small sample size. You can see the intangibles of players in summer league, and he's 100% got NBA intangibles like elite athleticism, speed, heart/hustle and work ethic...he just doesn't give up on plays.
Loving his:
- lightning fast speed and explosion, particularly when creating to the basket.
-tenacious defense with great anticipation- he stayed in front of Exum in game 1.
-willingness to attack the basket and create contact like Smart.
- ability to run pick and roll relentlessly like IT with starting NBA point guard caliber
ball handling skills- one of his most under rated talents.

We could have a pair of true bulldogs on both ends as the future of our backcourt.
Considering the limited options available at pick #16, I'm pretty happy with him so far.
Anyone else very satisfied over this short sample size?
If so, why?
If not, please vent...

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Looks like a decent point guard with the ability to handle the offense and also attack.

None of his skills really stands out but he just looked solid overall.

Not too surprised.  Danny knows how to find NBA players with Rozier's skillset.  What kind of impact will he make with the team this year or in the future though?  That's pretty murky right now.

Apart from his speed and his overall athleticism I really like his handles.

Keeps the ball on a string, probes, hesitates, then bang he's gone. Like IT with his handles in that regard.

Like what i've seen from him so far. Very quick, nice shooting stroke, likes to go left, and looks like he'll live at the line. Defense looks to be as advertised long and lanky and can be a elite defender. I like the pairing of him and smart.

I like the potential I've seen. Solid handle, good D, elite athleticism, elite motor, decent passer, goot fundamentals to his shot. I think he has a bright future and can't wait to watch him again tomorrow.

I know it's early and I know it's summer league so I'll take it with a grain of salt but when I heard his name draft night my jaw dropped I didn't understand the selection or like it. I really wanted Oubre who went infront of us so after I was expecting to hear Dekker or Portis.  all I can say is from from draft night til today my thoughts on the pick is a complete 180. I love what the kid brings to the table and how he would be paired up with smart in the backcourt. these kids give if not the same but more excitement/effort on the defensive end which result in plays that don't snow up on the stat sheet. terry rozay is what I like to call him lol. he is heartless and believes he can do whatever he wants on the court without forcing it. I love the way he attacks the basket sweet stroke and athleticscm is through the roof. His handles aren't right but could can to the rim when he please if need be. Has no problem drawing contact. He makes it's look effortless getting to the line with his quickness alone. I'm excited to see Terry Rozay in green and would have no problem with and smart being out future backcourt

his crossover is flipping sick. Im thinking he can back up IT and move Smart to SG. Package Bradley and Sully for a solid SF or C.

In SL Smart has shown more developed PG skills. Personally, I'd like to let Smart run the offense to start the season. I'd also like to move Sully and AB though.

Needs to improve feel for game. Passing the ball. I have rarely seen him drive and kick. Or know what to do with the ball in 3 on 1 transition play.

Needs to make the open j consistently

Otherwise , we need to give cr to Danny for taking a chance on Rozier at 16

I'm extremely pleased so far. At the risk of sounding baselessly hyped, I really think he and Smart are our future starting backcourt. I love how much he improved from game one to game two to game three. Also, how much better he and Smart were used together in game three over game one. And how well the two guys meshed by their second SL game together.

He seems quick not only in body, but also in mind, out there.

Easily pleased. He's got the entire skill set to be great. Excellent pick and value at 16.

What do you expect from a rookie PG in his first three SL games? I saw plenty of good passes and good drives, and have no doubt that he'll learn to put the two together. Same with different transition opportunities. Give him six months tutelage under these coaches and going through training camp, preseason, and the first half of the schedule and I expect they'll be ready to ease him into the starting lineup at about the same rate they got Smart there.

What could be a little tricky is that he and Smart are a good pairing, while IT and Hunter are a good pairing. But having him come off the bench with IT isn't the right way for him to develop (or the Celtics to win games) at all.

I think you may be right.  Even if Rozier is just Darren Collison 2.0, if Smart realizes his potential as a two-guard, that could be a really nice combo.

I don't mind Rozier with the 16th pick. In the event AB or Turner gets dealt this season he will be at the least an insurance policy.

He's a solid ball handler and just needs development in other areas.

Every draft there will be .....I told you so hits and misses ......our own IT was the LAST person draft in his class .

So yes there could be the next MJ taken.  16-40 th ......but no one can predict that. So what is the pitching a "fit" over ....what could a , or should a .....been ...at this point.

So ..... ;D.   .......I'm  down with the pick for better or worse ......nothing we can do now, I think he'll be at least a trade value.

Rozier .....IS NBA level talent ......that's for sure .......how good he will be ,  might be a few years before we know, hopefully LeDiva is gone or too old and Celtics will be in charge once again.

So yeah.....there us always a chance there  was a a better pick ........no use dwelling on what could gave been.

I saw fast thinking,  courage , and discipline for a summer league kid......he looked close to what Smart was his first few Summer games.

Ps ......I think Hunter might make it .......but Young seems doubtful based on low IQ.
