Rozier and Smart

It's going to take these guys a bit but if Summer League is any indication both are ahead of the curve.  I don't think we have to trade Isiaiah or Bradley to make it work either.  just make Bradley a roleplayer.  Same with Isiaiah.   We have Hunter who needs to play is all but I don't see why Smart and Rozier can't be our backcourt of the future with a great bench.

Thing is with these guys and with the Celtics it's not about how much money who is making.  Isiaiah and Bradley are getting paid more, but they can play as backups.   Smart and Rozier are on rookie deals and are extremely valuable.

I think Rozier is going to compliment Smart very well for a long time.  We have james  Young who clouds things a bit but other than that there isn't a whole lot of movement that has to happen here.

Smart, Isiaiah, Bradley, Rozier, Young, Hunter, Pressey is what I have for now.  Young is a swingman.  He can play SF too.  But we have Turner, Crowder and jerebko there.   Young can take Turner's spot ultimately.

Maybe.  Ainge is going to do something with all this depth, but Rozier and Smart that's our backcourt of the future imo.

'really loving what i see from Rozier ..i know its summer league but his handles are good..I always compare him to bradley when bradley was a rookie and men he was horrible couldn't shoot or dribble ..Rozier is smooth when he drives to the basket makes some nice passes and he's already a solid size for a rookie..This was a great pic by danny but its only because we have enough guards thats why everyone was like ..

Last night, Smart, Rozier, Hunter ALL looked pretty good...Only Smart had looked good previously...Rozier and Hunter looked a lot more comfortable.

Smart has an incredible defensive feel for the game--he walks a fine line of picking up offensive fouls and flopping--but he's the best I've seen at selling it.

I agree with you.  He has a ways to go. I don't expect the world as a rookie and if he struggles I'm not going to be all like you know.  I like the pick though too.

I think in ways Rozier ultimately is the perfect compliment to Smart.  He can spell him at times and as a tandem they are going to wreak havoc ultimately.  Thing is Bradley is good like that too.  So is Isiaiah.  It's going to work.

I hope DA sticks to his guns here and doesn't do anything stupid.  "We have too many guards" We have too many Bigs now too.  Maybe we are just good.

Our roster down the line is pretty well stacked

pg-Smart, Isiaiah, Rozier, Pressey
sg-Bradley, Hunter, Young
sf-Turner, Crowder, jerebko
pf-sully, amir, mickey
c-lee, zeller, KO

All our guards can play multiple positions.   Young and Hunter can swing to the 3 as well.  Turner is a glue guy.  Crowder is like Posey.

Some moves will need to be made.  But Rozier is kind of that x-factor right now.

Ainge can really sit back with all these picks and pick and choose.

If Rozier can live up to his billing as a sort of Darren Collison / Dennis Schroder type, he and Smart could make an exciting pairing.

This is the result of having 2nd tier players. We don't have players that are way much better than the others (not talking about our 2 vets). So we have too much depth. Even if you trade a SG for a SF, there will still be too many players that can play decent minutes. We don't have the Randolph, wallace and pressey on the bench anymore. We have 15 players that can give good contribution to the team.
The only solution is to find real good talent, to define roles. Until then, enjoy our depth, it will be very tiring for the other 29 teams to play us, I guaranty you.
Crazy fast pace and transition for 48mn / 82 games and with the addition of Johnson and Rozier, it looks like we just improved defensively as well.

The flipside of having that kind of depth is it means you never get to develop the kind of lineup continuity that makes teams really good.

The best teams have 5 man lineups that see a lot of minutes together and develop very good chemistry thereby.  The Celts last year used a TON of different 5 man lineups, and very few of them logged very many minutes together.  We can probably expect the same this year.
