Assuming that one of them is probably gone now that Danny went out and got Amir Johnson and David Lee, which one of Sully or Olynyk would you rather see stay?

Kelly, cause of his versatility.

Where is neither?

Not an option in this poll.  Thanks for the input, though.

Olynyk.

Very little faith that either turns into an everyday starter, but Olynyk is the better bet as a useful role player off the bench since he has proven that he can consistently hit outside shots and the peripheral stats (plus minus etc) suggest he helps the team when he's on the floor despite his limitations.

Sullinger has games where he looks really good, but the weight and back issues are real and I'm not sure his conditioning will ever allow him to play big minutes.

Feels like they're both earmarked for an eventual trade, though.

Sullinger. Olynyk cannot play defense. Not really close imo even if Sully is feasting on burgers all season

Olynyk. Higher upside. Better shooter. He's not great at defense but neither is Sullinger. He also doesn't have a history of back surgeries and issues with his weight. He's a safer bet to maximizing his potential.

I think "neither" should be an option.

but with a gun to my head? i'm choosing Sully, his biggest issues are correctible, plus he's shown he can be a player in this league.

KO has shown nothing yet and he's on the verge of being a complete bust.

From a causal fans perspective I would say Sully, but KO lights it up in the advanced stats. KO also has another year on hist contract. I'd go with KO.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Olynyk.

I like (don't love) both of them, but since Kelly has an extra year on his rookie contract, it kind-of solidifies it for me. Sully may have more potential to be a go to guy, but KO seems like the type who could really fill a solid role on a good team.

Kelly was my vote.
I actually feel he played better defense than sully last year.....soooo
Sully better rebounder, good passer, nice mid range game.
Kelly good rebounder, good passer (maybe better), good mid range game, good three point game.  Plays stretch center and pf! That does it for me
But if a good deal is up I'd move either or both.

Sullinger, and it's an easy choice.

Fine, but if we're moving one, why wouldn't we be moving both?

The answer, by the way, is Sullinger (tp to BudweiserCeltic for his assessment) because it seems like it would be easier to trade him away after Olynyk is shipped out and I have made a cursory effort to satisfy the terms of your poll. Neither of them have much of a future on meaningful Celtics teams, IMO.

I just feel Kelly has a little more upside potential and I'm not ready to give up on him yet.  He just finished his 2nd yr.  Jared just finished his 3rd yr I believe and I think he should've shown more in yr 3 which he did not.  With both players I'd like to see what we'd get in return.  With Sully my patience is about gone.  His weight really p---es me off.  If he was taking this NBA thing seriously I would think after 3 yrs in the NBA his body would look a hell of a lot better.  I've never been a believer in his weight holding him back.  Not sure it is.  But, his weight does show that he doesn't give a Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline..  And I don't want a 280 pounder shooting 3's.  Either that's his fault or Stevens.  Probably both.  I am a big believer in Stevens but this BS with having centers shoot 3's - I'm sick of it.  That's BS.  This team needs 2 things to be good - a young PP (crunchtime scorer) and a young KG (paint and rim protector).

Keep your real life out of this we're dealing with Poll logic here and the poll says one stays.  ::)
