I'm sure most have heard the story.  Some guy starts with a red paper clip, and through a series of trades, eventually ends up with a house.

Been thinking about DA's strategy, which obviously is not the 76'er model of tanking, and this is what comes to mind.  Basically, you take upgrades when they present themselves and eventually (hopefully), you will to where you want to go.

Forsberg articulated something similar a while back.

I think it's right, though it might be more of a last resort than the original plan. I think Danny wanted to get top 5 picks in each of the last two years. Once that didn't work out, he wanted to flip assets for a star like Love. And so on.

But you have to give him credit, he's kept plugging away at these smaller deals that accumulate assets while preserving cap flexibility, all while chasing bigger things.

In fact, if you were going to really do a Divisional Rivalry, you could say that the Celtics are operating on the Red Paperclip while the 76ers are really indulging in their nominal mascot -- Ben Franklin.

For want of a ring, a season was lost...
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

you just described how I built my fantasy team.

No but really I tried that on Craigslist once for fun on the barter section. I started with an item worth $60... Eventually ended up with an item worth $1500, sold it on eBay, got bored and lost interest in doing it.
