This Years Outlook 15-16 season.

I could get into deep detail what I believe will unfold, but I will keep it pretty simple and would like to see you guys agree , could see similar or think something totally different.

Finish 42-40 make the 8th seed and lose in 6
Brad Stevens takes a big leap with these guys, continue the hard hustle and great passing and squeeze out a lot of wins.

Smart has a good year gets recognized for 2nd team All Defense.
Averages 14-5-2steals.

Sully has a break out year
18-10-3assist

Isiah averages 16 off the bench is in the running for 6th man.

at the end of the season the Kings don't make the playoffs and have a very big let down.

Nets have a lottery season and finish with the 2nd overall pick.
Mavs finish with the 10th pick.
Celtics have the 16th pick again.

We trade the 2nd , 10th , 2 2nd rounders,  James young and the nets swap in 17 for cousins.

Max out Durant, and Beal.

That was the one part of  your theory i thought to be plausable, everything after was fantasy land.

We may be a better team, but so are Indiana, Charlotte, Miami and arguably Detroit.

Sadly, I think there's a good chance that, with the team as is, we don't even make the playoffs, which to me makes the fact that we made them this past season even more pointless and hurtful, costing us Winslow or Turner or a better chance to move up in the draft.

We are not only going to be terrible next year, we are not going to get any of these free agents. There is zero chance Durant wants to come to Boston - same with Brad Beal. I don't think I am breaking news when I say that Boston is not a preferred free agent destination.

If we make the playoffs next year, it will be because the rest of the Atlantic division is bad.

Danny Ainge is not doing what it takes to appeal to marquee free agents. Period. His recruiting efforts have never been successful. All of the good players who have come through here have come via trade, except perhaps Amir Johnson and Courtney Lee - two role players who are mere cogs, not engines. (If you can't retain your own mid level/bench free agents you have massive problems.) The few good free agents who have come, came to play with Garnett, Pierce and Allen.

We will rebuild through the draft, or through trades. However, Danny has whiffed on a number of picks. Smart is no Elfrid Payton or Zach Lavine. I do not understand why we picked Rozier, when we already have literally four players who play his position, and who appear to be in our long term plans. Looney, McCullough, Portis, and Sam Dekker were all available. I note that Looney and Dekker are both small forwards - our position of greatest weakness.

In a different thread I picked 46 wins. That was before the Lee trade but I stand by that number.

This team is going to defend at a top 10 level, they are going to outwork teams and get to most of the loose balls.

I expect Smart to take a small jump, Crowder to improve and Sullinger (if he isn't traded) to also have a good season. I just don't see a way, short of injuries that the C's are worse than last year.

If we can make one more deal for a quality SF like Gallinari or Chandler I think the team could be even better than that.

That being said if I am wrong, then we probably have two lottery picks next year, because I don't see the Nets being better than 35 wins.

a full training camp with Lee and Thomas under Stevens is going to be huge for this team.  we're in really good shape to have a well oiled P/R driven offense. 

I wonder if the summer league games are skewing views around here?  those scrubs aren't suiting up for us this year.  we've got professional ballers; AB, Amir, Lee, IT, Crowder --- all heady, experienced players who are all darlings of the advanced stats. 

Smart is our wild card, I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see him put up 15/5/8/2/2 this year.  At worst he's another 3D rotational player.  The rookies... well I expect nothing from them.  Doesn't matter though, we're the team no one wants to play every night because of how hard guys like Jae, Marcus, and AB get after it defensively. 

Sure, this isn't a great team.  But its definitely a good team that has improved itself and heading in the right direction.  I'm calling the 45 range.

love the optimism in the opening post but have to agree it's pretty much fantasy.

C's will have trouble making the playoffs even after the Lee trade unless Danny makes a solid deal that provides better balance to roster.

Terrible? This is a team that went through a crazy amount of changes during the season and still went 40-42. A full year of Thomas and Crowder,continued improvement of the youngsters, additions of Lee and Johnson will lead to further improvement. It may not show up so much in the win column, but I think 43-45 wins is realistic.

It's amazing how many people are shortchanging this team..makes me wonder how many of you are actually watching the games.
