Per weei.com, the Celtics will have enough cap space next year to sign 2 max players.  I know people have been clamoring for Danny to produce the fireworks this year, but he may have a longer term plan in place.  Patience.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

Thats all well in good but it brings up the problems that have been addressed all along.
1) All teams will have cap space next year with the league increase.
2) There aren't that many top level free agents next year not named Durant.

Two max players and tons of draft picks.

Who are these players?
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

It doesn't make much sense to ask the fans to be patient when it's the team (Ainge + Owners) claiming there will be fireworks, and then failing to deliver said fireworks.

The free agent class is going to be trash outside of Durant and Al Horford. It's unlikely we beat out teams for two premier free agents because there aren't many premier free agents out there.

If we are going to try to go the free agency route next year we need to trade for a star this year, have one develop, or play so well that a star sees themselves as the missing piece from a young talented squad coming up.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

After an offseason of questionable draft picks and free agent signings, I'm just trying to provide a glimmer of hope.  Feel free to be impatient if that's what floats your boat.

One side of the aisle is asking "Where the hell are all the moves we were supposed to get?".  The other side of the aisle is badgering them with "Be Patient.  Trust Danny.  This is the right thing.".  Repeating the mantra over and over isn't going to change anything, but we're getting thread after thread on it.

Based on Monroe signing with the Buicks, I don't think you necessarily need superstars or good weather to get quality free agents.  If the C's show they have a strong foundation, and a good coach and organization, they will come.

one of them is Durant right?

I think we should at least make a pitch at him, but I doubt we can get him

I see him either staying in OKC or Washington

I hear ya.  I don't have a vested interest either way.   And I don't expect the anti-danny crowd to trust him (or vice versa).  I wanted fireworks just like everyone else.  I'm just not going to go on a danny bashing trip because I admit that don't know all of the behind-the-scenes details.  Real life is a lot difference than fantasy basketball with trades and free agents.  I really liked the team I saw at the end of last year so I will be patient.

The Bucks had Jabari and Giannis.  Right or wrong, they're both perceived as future stars.

So I ask again: where is the Celts' equivalent coming from?

The question is who could our max player be, there doesn't seem to be a huge fit. Here is my list of 16 free agents, let me know who you would have interest in that we could get. Their are some decent restricted free agents who haven't signed extensions yet but their teams will probably match.

Durant
Hibbert
Noah
Jefferson
Horford
Batum
Nene
Gallinari
Ryan Anderson
Wilson Chandler
Brandon Jennings.

RFA
MKG
Valenciunas
Barnes
Henson
Jones
Montijuanas

I'm all for optimsim, but I think it's a lot more likely we develop our draft picks or get lucky and get a lotto pick or two in the '16 draft than signing two max free agents from a crappy class next year.

our best bet is to develop within at this point or trade some of these assets for a potential star. Overspending on next year free agent class is a mistake, its pretty horific.
You also can't forget that assuming this season goes well we'll have to pay Sullinger who could potentially ask for a near max contract, of course depending on this seasons production... that alone would leave us with only dough for one more max contract.
