I was underwhelmed by a few players and wanted to get a take on everyone else's feelings after game 1

Smart- A+++
Drove the ball, played great D, and led in assists with great passes

Young- F-
Shot wasn't falling, defense was terrible still, and passing was atrocious

Rozier- C
He was invisible out there on offense and his defense was above average

Hunter- D
Constantly beat off the dribble, shot was not falling, but he was able to cut off passing lanes and get steals with his length

Mickey- C+
Offensively he was way better than I thought he had his shot falling the whole night, his D the main thing he was supposed to bring was not there, and he couldn't buy a rebound

All together I give the  team a C-
We had the same problems we had last season WE CAN'T REBOUND, PROTECT THE RIM, OR SHOOT 3'S!!!

...why couldn't we draft a center Danny  :-\

outside of Marcus it was pretty unimpressive but first game of summer league.  James Young has a really nice shooting stroke that warmed up as the game went.  Rozier was too unselfish imo.

Not aimed at OP specifically, but everyone is overreacting. It's natural, as we haven't watched Celtics bball in quite some time, but the fact is that one game represents almost no new information about any of these players. Don't worry, Hunter can still shoot, Smart will still struggle to get to the rim, Rodney Hood is still an underdog to ever start an NBA game in his life.

But I agree with the overall assessment. Smart had a great game outside of mixed bag shot selection, but nobody else played particularly well.

Smart = A
Young = D
Rosier = C+
Mickey = B
Fair = C-
Hunter = D
Thornton = F

Team = C-

I wanted to see more of Mickey and much less of Fair.

I don't feel that we got a good grasp of Rozier's offense tonight. He looked tentative at times, and with Smart being super-aggressive (which I love), it was harder for him to get going.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Smart got to the rim, its the finish where he struggled.

Outside of Marcus the most talented players on the floor were the guys that should be at least. James Young and Rozier.  They just have to be more aggressive.  Mickey is still a mini Chris Bosh playing in Leon powe's body.

Rozier and Young were drafted at around the same spot based on upside and they look pretty similar that way.  Going to take a bit.

When did young have a "really nice shooting stroke". He looked awful.

The Target is on Young. He got outplayed by Hunter and looked lost. We need to sign Gerald Green, Young isn't ready.

Are you saying Young played well too? If so, I must have missed it but I am sure I watched the whole game.

Young had all his points in the 2nd half if I'm not mistaken and shot the ball well. First half not so much.

Sry but Young still strikes me as a guy who can put up points very quickly.   He is going to be good.  12 points 2nd half and he'd do that in real games as well the shots he was taking.  He does that for both halfs that's 24 points like nothing for him.

I mostly agree with your grades. However I thought Mickey was a solid B and I would downgrade Smart a bit  to a B+. Still not sold on Smart's ability to run an offense... he's definitely a baller and a potential star, but with him as the ball handler I find that it sticks too much. Hopefully growing pains...

As a team we had bad movement off the ball which led to a lot of contested shots and some sloppy defense.

I'm not going to make a big deal out of their first game, the next few they should loosen up a bit.
