That's a good signing for Portland at a very friendly cost. Basing on stats and metrics alone without the intangibles, asset management and what have you, Ed Davis at present approximates Amir Johnson. Here is a comparison:

They just got Noah Vonleh. They have Meyers Leonard who wants to be a PF. They have Mason Plumlee. Still have Chris Kaman.

What the heck do they need Ed Davis for?

Plumlee/Leonard
Davis/Vonleh

I imagine Kaman will be traded

This is not a bad recovery after losing aldrige.  Plumlee and Davis are athletic. Not much skills but can grab rebounds, block shots, defend.

Vonleh has the upside.  Portland robbed charlotte
