Maybe I like being disappointed, but my brain is telling me that it is strange that Gasol hasn't signed yet.
If he is such a sure thing, why hasn't he signed? Why is he waiting a day? I mean, they were suppose to meet today, so why the wait on the announcement?
Why are the Grizzles announcing a signing of Brandon Wright, a backup center, before announcing the resigning of their starting center? And why hasn't Koufos gotten an offer elsewhere yet?
This kind of smells like the Heat and James last year, only with a lot more class. The Heat were like, "Look, we signed Josh McRoberts and drafted your guy in the draft. Those are difference-makers." In the same way, the Grizzles are saying, "Look, we signed Brandon Wright to a reasonable contract, and we are trying to trade for Gallinari. Those are difference-makers. We should finally be able to get to the Finals!"
All the while, Gasol is looking at the Western conference with the Thunder, Spurs, Suns, Pelicans, Rockets, and the championship-winning Warriors, and thinking "We aren't beating them with Brandon Wright and Gallinari."
Granted, it's going to be a tough road in the East with the Cavs, Bulls, reinvented-Raptors, and Hawks, but he would be the best center in the East.
I know what "reports" say, but tell me you wouldn't have a wandering eye if you were Gasol.
